Shut Up and Run.

Shut up & Run…can I get an AMEN? April 18 2007

Filed under: Running — pamalamadingdong @ 3:47 pm

So I shut up & ran.

It was hard. And F-ing hilly as this part of the country tends to be.

But it was good. And my legs are like jelly.

I did 5k in about 43 minutes, not stellar…but it’s done. And i feel pretty damned good about it.

Of course half way through my run and up my 2nd hill I started to feel really depleted and I thought WTF? I mean I know I’m out of shape but COME ON.

And then I realized. Yeah.

It was 12:45 and I hadn’t eaten a bite all day.

Tea? Sure.

Water? yup.

Food? NO.

Why? Because my mother called and invited Noah over for lunch today. Which was her famous (and famously UNhealthy) newfie fish cakes. These things have made me actually vomit when i was pregnant JUSt from being in the same room and them while they were being prepared.

So obviously I was not going to eat a fish cake…pre-run.

Anyway…I was a hungry hungry hippo.

But I finished it anyway.

Lets be honest. I need to lose weight.

A lot of it.

40lbs has got to go.

I’m fat

&

Out of shape.

And I hate it.

It’s not like I can’t run 5k without dieing, but I can’t run 15k and 5? Is an effort.

And? I am finding it SO HARD to just GO AND FUCKING RUN ALREADY.

Why?

Why is that? I NEED to go, I HAVE to go.

Have I run this week?

NO.

I’ve a few walks here and there, but the always include Noah, and lets face it, it’s not working up a sweat.

I just want to be back in the habit.

Chris comes home and i go out for a run.

I’m so lazy. So so so sooooo lazy.

moo

I hate it.

Enough, already.

Get up.

Go.

And So I Did April 04 2007

So I ran.

In the rain snow rain snow rain snow sleet blizzard rain snow fog and it didn’t completely blow. OK well, it blew a little bit, what with the driving rain and snow squall (perfect day to decide to head OUTSIDE for a run) . And it was HILLY! But I didn’t walk up every hill, I ran most to the top and everyone to at least the half way point.

My legs might not carry me tomorrow but Friday they will run that route again. It’s around the 5km mark…maybe a little less maybe a little more and it took me about 40 minutes. Not stellar but not too shabby for a fat girl. (moo)

Weird thing though, my chest is now congested a little. Like I have a grumbly cough. Exactly as if I was smoking and decided to all of a sudden exercise. WHAT’S UP WITH THAT! DO NOT LIKE. DO NOT LIKE ONE BIT.

Do you think it’s possible…even remotely that it’s from visiting my Mom’s and inhaling her chimney of 2nd hand smoke?

COULD IT BE THAT?

That would not be cool.

GOD why doesn’t that woman quit smoking for crying out loud. She’s practically YELLOW now. Classy.

p.s.

48 caramilk chocolate bars (the LARGE size) just walked through my door under the guise of school fund raising.

HOLD ME (back)!

Guess WHAT

I am totally running today. In the rain, the COLD rain I might add.

And now, my laptop battery is dying…

ciao

Dumber Than I Look December 08 2006

Filed under: Running, another stellar moment — pamalamadingdong @ 9:36 am

“Dumber Than I Look” post, take 2.

Since take 1? Was devoured by wordpress, never to be seen or heard from again.
the abridged version…

Decided to run home from work yesterday.

Packed bag of winter running stuff night before. Had to wait till morning to pack COLD winter running pants.

Got kids up in the morning. Rush rush rush dash dash dash. We were running slightly behind.

Got Brendan out the door on time.

Continued rush with Noah.

We were both ready, I dashed to get my heavy winter running pants. And then put them in my bag. Only when I opened “my” bag I found 5th grade math homework and a bright red lunch bag.

D’OH!

That’s right. Brendan had taken my bag with him to school (or so I thought), running shoes, RUNNING BRA, fabulous winter running shirt. Sitting in a grade 5 class and I was already 5 minutes late for work.

I had my father in law drop off Brendan’s bag to him, but didn’t mention bringing my bag to me as this would only cause confusion that I was in no mood to deal with.

All day I kept thinking “Bren has $300 worth of running clothes with him, he’s dead if he loses or forgets it”

Anyway…loooooooong agonizing non-running story short.

He had gone to school with NO bag, I just assumed he had taken my bag with him when I saw his bag. MY bag was in another room entirely.

Cause I’m smart like that.

No run yesterday, obviously.
