I Don’t Know What This Means…. January 09 2009

Picture 006

Bren (above) asked me to put some music on his p$p. I got him to write down his music choices and I downloaded and then uploaded them for him.

First of all…can the P$P be anymore convoluted. I mean, it’s not rocket science but it’s not at all convenient (dude I had to LOOK up how to transfer mp3s to it…LOOK UP!…GAWD!)

Anyway the following is the list of music HE asked for. If my scanner worked I would scan it for you, but it doesn’t and OH YEAH you couldn’t read his handwriting anyway (FYI he is in Grade 7 and claims they have never been taught cursive writing…wtf? Can this be true?? )

Brens Music:

Crazy Train – Ozzy

White Rabbit – Jeffeson Airplane (!)

Somebody To Love – Jefferson Airplane

Paranoid – Scorpions (?)

Thunderstruck – AC/DC (please kill me)

Welcome to the Jungle – White spandex bicycle shorts and image that is BURNED into my retinas

Seeker – The Who (I think)

Incense and Peppermints – Strawberry Alarm Clock.

How is that the playlist of a 13 yr old?

It’s a little ecclectic (at there is not rap!), and not at all current. I mean CHris and I listen to more current music than that.

Seriously!

Oh well…at least he’s sampling a lot before he decides what he likes.

SOOO Not Fair. January 07 2009

Today is the FIRST day in THREE weeks that NO ONE is home. Possibly longer actually because of various illnesses (real or imagined!).

Anyway, Chris is in school today. Brendan is in school today. Noah is in school today.

So I should have a nice relaxing day to myself right?

WRONG!

I have to work!

SOOOO unfair.

Oh well, I’m off tomorrow.

It’s kinda nice to get back to normal.

The kids were getting VERY bored. And Chris was too I think.

Our tree is down, in a box (we use a fake one these days) but not put away…same goes for the decorations.

Lights are NOT turned on outside anymore…but they are stuck until spring.

I cannot even see my tacky light up Santa anymore…we’ve dug him TWICE and now he is buried again.

SO

MUCH

SNOW.

Pretty sick of shoveling it actually.

Taking the boys to school now…but before i leave…I will share with you a pet peeve (I KNOW, me? a pet peeve? NEVER!)

I went to town yesterday specifically to go to the library ( i HATE not having something to read) anyway, I chose a book from a familiar author, and then branched out took one out from someone I didn’t know.

I started that book last night and guess what.

I HAD READ IT BEFORE!

CURSE MY MOTHER AND HER CONDENSED BOOKS!

Back to the library I guess.

grr.

On NOT Running January 05 2009

So my big come back lasted what…6 weeks?

Yes, six weeks of pretty consistant running (couple with kind of consistant  walking with Feffie at night)

Then the ice came…and with brought me…klutz of the century…iPod turned up REALLY loud, plodding down the side walk (drivers are too scary around here) having a lovely lovely run, until disaster struck at about 4.5 km. Just as I was taking a step I saw the side walk under the loose snow was sheer ice. But it was too late to stop the motion so by the time i put on the brakes i did a slow motion skid/slide/flop/fall. It was lovely.

Add to that the amount of noise I KNOW came from my head. I could hear my grunt loud and clear through screaming of my iPod.

God I’m gorgeous.

And since then NO RUNNING! Xmas time…yeah right…not only was there ice…but there was TOO MUCH SNOW that was not being cleared.

And now..that I totally feel like it’s time to get back out there…

I have a cough.

Courtesy of my husband.

Gee I’m so glad we’re no longer on the rocks. It’s nice that we are so close you can once again INFECT ME WITH YOUR GERMS!

So yesterday I went snowshoeing with noah. (heh) and we made it about 20 minutes into the bush we he declared we needed to turn around and immediately head home.

Why?

Because he was scared. Even after I assured him I would make sure he was safe, and that we weren;t doing anything dangerous.

Oh no….DADDY KEEPS ME SAFE! He keeps us ALL safe in the bush and everywhere.

IN THE BUSH! PAHLEASE the man had never even seen real bush till he met me…

um.

What I mean is…he had never seen WILDERNESS until he met me and I brought him here.

Anyway….

Can you believe that? I don’t know what to make of it really.

Tonight Feffie and I walked our 5k (almost 5k I guess) -11C but -19 with the windchill.

That my friends is fucking cold. Not soooo cold that you can’t keep warm but cold enough that i should not worn jeans. Duh.

And now my cough is really aggravated.

So I think I’ll go get Chris out of NOah’s bed and aggravate him with it.

Of Course. January 03 2009

Xmas was pretty good here. We managed to pull it all off, I think.

Everyone came for dinner and the wii was enjoyed by all.

Chris and I were only a little sick. A nasty cough but that’s about it.

We decided to have my sisters and my nephew over for new years eve dinner.

What an awesome idea!

I had to work till about 5pm. Chris took the boys skiing for that day, so we decided to meet after work and go grocery shopping together. Traditionally we have a chocolate fondue with the kids on New Years eve.

I made our grocery list….I really did even check it twice.

Chris EVEN remembered to bring it along with him.

We pulled into the parking lot. Empty.

THE STORE CLOSED AT 5.  This store NEVER closes at 5. It’s always always always 6 when it closes early.

FIVE!

NO FOOD.

Four people coming for dinner.

4.

No…food.

No…chocolate fondue.

ON our way home I ran into my mothers and ransacked her kitchen for things dippable in chocolate. fruit…rice krispie squares. Etc Etc Etc.

Chris went to the corner store to secure some snacks. $17 for chips and dip. (oh my god I wish I was joking).

And for dinner?

We ordered a pizza.

:::phew:::

We had fun. We played guitar hero. We had fun.

Of we had NO food for breakfast or dinner the next day.

But that’s what Tim Hortons is for.

Have i been running you ask?

HELL.

No.

I don’t even want to talk about it. There is SO MUCH ice and snow on the sidewalks it’s not even funny.  Our sidewalks end up snow covered…like you do not see the side walk until it thaws in the spring.

Which is fine to run on, provided it’s smooth and not littered with ruts.

Well, it rained over xmas. So not only are they completey covered in ruts they are also so slippery it’s dangerous.

These ruts are deep.  They are foot prints of people walking on them in the rain when it got all squishy.

Perfect for twisting an ankle or two.

GAH!

Must find a treadmill that is not covered in ciggarette smoke.
