Home Alone! January 22 2008

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 1:40 pm

that’s right.

I am home alone.

And I just ate really garlicy garlic bread.

I am sitting here…drinking tea. With NO ONE to (talk to) bother me.

except for that large black curly haired dog whose face is half covered in dried on gravy (don’t even ask).

yeah, that’s right.

Home alone.

With mountains of laundry to fold and put away…dishes to clean.

And NO excuses to be had.

boo hoo.

hmm…boring much?

tomorrow my sister (not feffie) and I are snowshoeing across one of the lakes in town and will be partaking in a fire…some goodies and a bottle of wine (white for her..red for me). I may forgo the wine for hot chocolate because I am not much of a day time drinker. Also…the windchill will be -30C in the morning..which means more like -20C by the time we get going…and wine is NOT really on my mind then.

It’s sounds so adventurous to be snowing across the lake to an island…climbing to an isolated area and building a fire…just two chicks and some snacks.

But in reality it’s not that cool at all. We’ve specifically chosen this lake because it’s about half way between our houses and we can see THE MALL from it. Seriously. We aren’t going THAT far into the bush or anything.

But then again it’s mostly because we can do with it without the need for a car and we will still get a cell signal…incase something goes wrong (like we need a cork screw).

Cheers to winter.

I know you hate me for not hating winter..and snow and cold. BUT I LOVE IT.

I don’t think I could live anywhere that didn’t have REAL winter. Like snowstorms that dump so much snow that you have SHOVEL your way out your front door kind of winters…LOVE IT

Who knew i was such a Northern girl?

Nothing more fun than piling on layers and boots and going out for the day in -20C with the kids and a picnic.

You would not believe how exhausting a day like that is.

Everyone is beat when you get home rosey cheeked and dead tired.

I’m not an ice fisher…but only because it’s BORING. B-O-R-I-N-G. I mean the only reason I even pretend to fish in the summer is because it often involves a boat and sometimes snacks.  Last summer I caught 2 fish…both were about 3 inches long…and no edible.  And both times I squealed like a girl and made Chris take them off and put them back in the lake (of course). I don’t really want to catch anything…I just like the action of casting (or whatever). I’m a fake fisherman.

Imagine this.

-20C at least, you ….TONES of clothes…a short teeny little fishing rod and an ice auger.

You drill a hole.

You drop you line in the hole.

You sit and wait.

and wait.

and wait

and wait.

Oh look a fish…you bring it up and toss it on the snow.

you drop your line.

and wait

and wait

and wait.

and freeze.

NO FUN.

BORING!

snowshoeing across a lake sounds like fun. I only know of one pond locally that actually freezes enough for skating.

“just two chicks and some snacks”

I’m thinking this could make a very nice video for Youtube.
