Walking…it’s not just for old people anymore June 27 2007

Start walking. Don’t run…just walk. Do that for two weeks. Every day or every other day. Then allow yourself to run very slowly. Maybe just down the length of one street…then walk the rest of the way. The pounds will melt away, your legs will get stronger and you’ll rediscover the ability to run.
And suddenly it’s ok to walk.
Seriously, I have always felt like walking was almost failure. I walk for a couple of days and then I run 5km and almost die. I am so discouraged that I don’t even walk the next day.
Kinda stupid, and I didn’t even realize it until I read this comment.
Sometimes I’m dumb.

Remember how you started? Start again. I’m doing the same for myself. You can do it. Hey…sign up for a marathon. That will motivate you may be.
This makes perfect sense…well…except for the marathon part….while this seems to work for some new runners it would not work for me and I would most certainly end in injury. My shins hate me at the best of times, imagine them being over trained.
Today is Noah’s last day of school and so i will no longer have a lovely block of time in the afternoon to lay on the couch with my laptop dreaming up reasons NOT to run to myself. So it will have to wait until Chris is home for the day. But I also think I can incorporate them into the walking. Throw them into the wagon and walk 4 or 5km to the beach, fabulous!
Anyway thanks for pointing out the obvious. Clearly I needed it.
Id have to start with a crawl……although my knees are REALLY bad!
ugh…forget it.
But good luck to ya!
Everybody has to walk before they can run.
EVERYONE.
And yes, that includes you
Suck it up and get out there.
walking…it’s the next best thing.
I LOVE YOU … YOU LOVE ME LETS ALL MAKE A FAMILY :D:D:D:D:D:D
