Shut Up and Run.

Shhhh March 19 2007

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 8:55 am

it’s 8:45am and Noah is still in bed.

What’s up with that? He wakes up before 8 almost every day of the march break but today, when I have to get up and get Brendan out to school, he sleeps.

DAMN HIM!

This weekend was uneventful, we took Bren skiing on Saturday and had a fire in the back yard in the snow on Saturday night. I was SO exhausted. Which was odd. Exhausted from STANDING in the cold all day. I felt like I’d been hiking for miles.

Here he is, coming down time number 512.

Lucky for me I eventually retreated to the chalet and warmed up. I also saw about 15 people I went to school with…and also about 7 children of other people I went to school with.

But really you can’t complain, there is a ski hill 5 minutes from my house. Bren adores it and it totally makes me want a snowboard for next year.

over it

So my children seem to be OVER the death of our beloved Boomie. And have been rallying together in an effort to convince us we need to replace her. Not with a dog, that would be in poor taste. Then what?

Well they just happen to have MANY suggestions (serious suggestions)

a starfish

an octopus

a rat

guinea pig (the closest so far to winning)

a dinosaur

a snail (wtf?)

a-cat-a-cat-a-cat-a-cat-ooooh-mommy!-can-we-please-get-a-cat

Noah, you see thinks it’s unfair that Brendan has a gecko and a snake in his room. They are HIS pets, and maybe it’s is a little unfair. Brendan is horribly allergic to cats so they are OUT of the question. He is mildly allergic to dogs and can now smell for the first time in years. (oops). Dori doesn’t affect him, she’s part poodle (oh the joy) and therefore is basically hypoallergenic.

So if we DO add a pet, I vote for a guinea pig. Or …ick…a rat. I’ve heard the rats make good pets for the little ones.

ugh.

Although a snail would be cool too. I could just wait for another month or so and go pluck one out of the back garden and stick in a jar.

Fabulous pet.

Hankering March 12 2007

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 3:00 pm

I am fighting a huge craving for pretty much anything sweet and or salty right now. Everyday I walk past aisles of easter chocolate just begging for me to eat them but do I? No.

Lately my hankering has been leaning heavily towards chips. More specifically chips and dip. OH YUMMY.

But now. I won’t cave.

Also, fries. It’s been months since I’ve had poutine and I really really really would like one.

I even have a half a bag of curds in my fridge.

I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE.

THE LENT DIET IS KILLING ME.

Thank you, I feel better.

Weekend

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 10:32 am

Well, our weekend was a little uneventful, which is mostly welcome.

Saturday morning Chris worked a little over time and was home around noon. Noah had a birthday party to attend the father of the boy was a guy a dated a LONG time ago. Also present, ANOTHER father of a child I dated a LONG time ago.

I tried to make Chris go by himself to save me the humiliation but NOOO I had to go too. It’s was so bad. I ignored the one father and chatted with the birthday boy’s father and mother. It was at the swimming pool and I think we might choose the venue for the boys party later this year. FABULOUS idea.

Anyway, Saturday night we went to the park with the boys and played on the HUGE snow bank until no one could stand up anymore, then we trudged them throw the bush, the long way home. They loved it and everyone was exhausted.

Yesterday they were supposed to go and forage for some fire would while I worked so that we could have a decent little fire last night, I even bought some weinies for the occasion.

Well instead they donned Dori’s new sweater (a la sneeches)

And headed out of town to a favourite picnic spot. Of course they did not consult me before departing. And so southern ontario boy Chris didn’t realize just HOW MUCH snow would be out in the bush untouched this entire winter, previous snowfalls never packed down. We’re talking waist deep in some spots and that’s only because we didn’t get much snow this year.

So dumbass didn’t wear any boots. DUH. The kids were nicely bundled and Dori was obviously dressed for the occasion, so they had fun tramped around the bush, the saw a bunch of tracks they claim to be all moose tracks but they just as easily could be deer tracks, the sour kraut is such a know it all I like to argue such points with him.

Dori came home and immediately went to  sleep, she didn’t move all night. Clearly she missed out outings to the bush.

The did not come back with ANY fire wood on account of it being buried in 3 months of snow.

Double duh.

I’m slightly jealous of their adventure while i was stuck in a mall, however the sour kraut and I would’ve argue incessantly just because he annoys me and he hates it when women argue with him.

So I’ll be happy to go with my own little family alone next weekend when Chris and I have both pledged NOT to work.

Of course all the snow will be gone by then and we will be awaiting out one last snow storm of the season. It always happens.
