Nice! Right? Grace and Brit are very obviously mourning the fact that I could not join them, as planned, at blogher this year.
I mean their weekend was clearly RUINED by my absense. That they made such a gallant effort is remarkable.

Well done ladies.

Oh…and

BITE ME!

In other news…I am on hour 38 of work this week….only 31 more to go.

HURRAH.

Also, less wine, more VODKA!

Reason #73 Why I am Not Running. July 28 2006

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 9:39 pm

Because my part time one or two day a week job has turned into ME BEING THe ACTING MANAGER.

Our MANAGER”s Mother died lastnight and she left today for the east coast.

Our ASSISTANT Manager is in SCOTLAND until next week.

That leaves me.

The only one left with a key.

In the last 3 weeks I have had 3 days off. I have been working since wednesday and will not get a day off until NEXT Saturday. In a clothing store. With 3 people working for me.

I don’t even have time to read flipping blogs. Do not have to run.

I don’t even have to mope about blogher

boohoo

BOATING July 25 2006

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 5:16 pm

We took the boys out on my FIL’s boat today. We just went on the one lake (there are about 150 around here) and puttered around for most of the day.

I mentioned to Noah that I would make a picnic. I forgot that at the mere suggestion of the word he instantly becomes hungry and NEEDS TO EAT NOW.

So 5 minutes on the lake and I was handing out PB sandwiches & kool-aid drink pacs.

The boys devoured them. Truth be told we all did. It was fabulous. The lake was calm and flat and look like ice (with less BRRR) and we puttered right to the very end of the lake. We hoped out at the little portage spot (did not portage) and sauntered on down a trail to the very next lake. If only the boat would have easily followed. Alas we were forced to merely admire the lake, convince ourselves that we heard a bear and rush back to the boat.

THEN we went to this little beach that you can only reach by boat. The boys swam with their lifejackets and Chris and I sat on our butts and relaxed.

Then we puttered somemore to the middle of the lake and devoured a bunch of chicken salad sandwiches, before beaching ourselves at one of the public beaches and letting the boys burn off the rest of their pent up energy.

The last time we did this we did it with a canoe and it took us forever and we were SORE and tired. This? Was more like it.

Chris even caught a teeny fish, that we all examined and then he let him go.

OH! And we saw a muskrat..ok ok..I saw a muskrat and then I scream “LOOK! LOOK! A muskrat!” and he disappeared.

blah.

So here we are…at home. Starving because Noah needs to eat NON-STOP on a picnic and cleaned us out of all our provisions half way through the trip.

I woulda taken pictures but you know, something was going end up in the water and I would be just as happy if it WASN’T my camera, so I left it at home.

NO SOUR KRAUTS TODAY!

HURRAY HURRAY! NO SOUR KRAUTS TODAY!

The REAL Post that Should Be Titled…KILL ME NOW. Seriously? KILL ME NOW. July 24 2006

We went on picnic Saturday.

With Chris’s Father.

That alone should be enough information for you to send me cyanide. Or perhaps a nice letter bomb.

You see on Friday I found myself at my father-in-laws house fixing his computer (actually no…I was not fixing I was simply CHANGING his address on his invoice & estimate macro’s AND showing him for the 105th time HOW TO ACCESS his internet…click the blue “e”).

ANYWAY, his woman (whom is lovely) suggested we get together the very next day for a picnic. Her granddaughter had been up for 2 weeks and was leaving to go home again (Toronto) on Sunday. She and Brendan got along really well, and wouldn’t it be lovely for them to spend the day together.

OK! I love a picnic..I’m a sucker for basketed food. PLUS I know about 113 awesome places for a picnic around here.

Father-in-law…lets call him Henry the Horrible proclaims that we needed to choose a place that had a boat launch.

FINE.

So I thought of another place. FABULOUS lake…a small waterfall…beautiful.

And we planned to go at 2 the next day. I volunteered to make salads (a pic nic food I adore).

Great!

I was so excited last night. I didn’t have to work today. I didn’t to get up to watch the kids first thing in the morning. We were planning a picnic for later this afternoon that would (and will) require so late morning cooking. But other than that? That’s it! Slip into a coma and surface again whenever you like.

HA! Yeah right.

4am. Enter Noah. The boy who hasn’t slept with us all week. The boy you flops ALL OVER THE BED. The boy who flails his arms and legs at unsuspecting parents. His little arm landed square across my throat which totally caused me to contemplate throwing him off the bed.

Eventually Chris evicted him, with the promise of slaying whatever monsters await him in his own room, just as the sun began to lighten the sky.

GAH!
