A Year in Review

Filed under: General — pamalamadingdong @ 5:08 pm

No no…I’m not going over my ENTIRE year bit by bit….but I can highlight some pinnacle moments. I trained for 2 half marathons and ran 0 of them in 2005. That blows quite a bit I think. I sold a house and bought a house. Moved my family to the other side of the province. We camped for 2 weeks..REAL camping like without electricity (something new for us) and with bears and moose and scary stuff like that. I started a new business. *gulp*
I lost and regained about 20lbs and then lost about 10 again.
I lost my running mojo…no not the mojo but TIME I lost my running time.
Noah started Daycare….Brendan started CATHOLIC school.
I remembered why I moved to the other side of this province 15 years ago.
Noah broke his arm.
I helped my sister (not feffie) leave her husband (a triumph).
Jon from Michigan totally fell in love with me.
I forgot how to write funny blog posts.

peeved December 29 2005

I have a pet peeve, shocking I know. My pet peeve involves husband and fathers that refer to the act of caring for their children without the presents of a mother, “BABYSITTING”.
Guys? You CANNOT BABYSIT YOUR OWN CHILDREN!
It’s called PARENTING!
or
DOING YOUR SHARE!
When I’M not working and am at home with my children do I call it babysitting? I am a stay at home babysitter? NOOOOO mostly cause I do not get paid for it and their father doesn’t drive me home, drunk as a skunk.
If people see me out without my kids..”Chris babysitting tonight?”
It makes me (almost) angry. NO HE IS NOT BABYSITTING! There are no additional children involved..the neighbours did not drop their kids off. He is at home for the evening with his kids. NOT BABYSITTING. Parenting.
so there.

my poor blog December 28 2005

How i’ve neglected you. Almost as much as I’ve neglected my house! (There are STILL empty boxes in the living room that used to contain christmas presents.) I’ve neglected you almost as much as I’ve neglected my body! (I haven’t run in at least A MONTH)
My children…I’ve gotten back to them. I stopped neglecting them when Noah began to routinely nap at the restaurant. TIME TO GO HOME.
I go to the restaurant only when I’m needed. TOday I was needed. I had to train people to use my nifty computer POS. MAN PEOPLE ARE STUPID…no I’m kidding..sort of. It’s hard to teach people that have never ever touched a computer. NEVER TOUCHED ONE! But they’re getting it.
My kids know my name again…I think Chris and I have started to recognise each other again too…which is a good sign…I think.

One day..I might even blog regularly again. IMAGINE!
I want to run but I seem to be lacking in a: motivation and b: TIME alone to do it.
This of course needs to change since I am a big blubber butt again.
Remember when I was athletic kind of?
Not so much anymore

Side note:
While walking to the hospital with my sister yesterday (all is well..no fear) we spotted a woodpecker (heh..I said pecker) on a hydro pole pecking away. He seemed HUGE (a huge pecker) and was hammering away at this post. First…um…it’s December and um…there are NO bugs in awake right now right? And 2nd…aren’t those poles pressure treated to keep bugs…like…out?

Another stupid pecker.
heh
/sidenote
I have to set my internet up at the restaurant so I can totally blog from there. That will make my day more productive!

The Xmas Curse Continues December 26 2005

Filed under: Stuff — pamalamadingdong @ 11:57 am

For the last few years me and my family have been ILL for xmas. Last year we had a stomach bug…a bad one. We vomited away our xmas day and boxing day. The first spew of the season was xmas eve. I believe Chris had hard boiled eggs all alone for xmas dinner.
This year we all seemed to get a cold earlier in the month and I assumed we made it. Everyone was happy and healthy until Wednesday. That’s when Noah first puked. It came and went all week. Diarrhea and a little vomit here and there. He would fine one day and then ill the next. It was like Xmas was playing with us. A cruel cruel joke. Thursday night Brendan was up in the washroom about 5 times and then finally puked at about 5am. Ugh. Here it comes, I thought. Another xmas with our heads in a bucket.
But no, it wasn’t nearly that bad. We had several trips to the washroom during our xmas gathering, but there was only one vomit episode. Which belonged to Noah and was induced by whipped cream combined with coughing.
there were NO FEVERS this year. NO asthma, NO all over body chills. NO nyquil! No pepto bismal!
It just didn’t feel like a usual dingdong xmas….thank GOD for that.
