Out Of The Mouths …. October 19 2005

You know, we try to be good parents. We TRY to teach our children right from left wrong. We try to teach them to respect adults and to have lovely manners and not be serial killers etc. GOD DAMN that’s a lot of work. And although most of the time we have lovely little tyrants boys sometimes, sometimes we have demon spawn with sugar on top.
Take, for example the incident in the grocery store yesterday afternoon. Chris and Noah had gone to the grocery store to pick up just a few things for dinner. No need for a cart Chris let Noah walk. The quickly lapped the store and grabbed the ingredients we needed for our feast. On the way to the cash Noah spotted the Popsicle cooler and decided it was a necessary detour, since he had received a box of kool-aid man shaped Popsicles just the other day and he NEEDED to show them to Daddy. Anyway, they visited the Popsicles and Chris took one step away from him towards the cashier lines when this crazy old woman with a cart cut Noah off and trapped him in the corner. Trying to push him out of her way by nudging the cart closer and closer to him. Chris was appalled and opened his mouth to say something to her when suddenly it happened.
It happened loud and it happened clear.
Noah shouted at the top of his lungs “STOP IT STUPID LADY!”
And the stupid lady stopped.
Noah was able to get around the offending cart step right up beside the stupid lady and shout, looking straight up in her face, “You are a stupid lady!”
Chris, absolutely speechless at this point touched Noah on the shoulder in hopes of steering him towards the check outs and eventually the freedom of the parking lot. So under the silent watchful gaze of the entire town grocery store Noah took Chris’s hand looked up to his face and said “Daddy? Did you see that stupid Lady? That was a stupid lady daddy! That lady had a stupid cawt”.

sigh
