I think Pam jinxed me. June 30 2005

I swear after posting here, all kinds of bad stuff happened to me.

  • Yesterday, the air conditioner broke. And it only breaks when its hot out, you know?
  • I get to spend my lunch hour looking for the new capacitor the air conditioner needs.
  • I burned my finger electrocuting myself when I touched the old capacitor by accident.
  • This morning I mailed a pile of envelopes for Cub Scouts and I just realized I had figured the postage wrong and now they’ll all be sent back for insufficient postage (or arrive postage due!)
  • I set up this morning’s conference call wrong and everyone was mad and half of them didn’t come for the rescheduled meeting.
  • Now I’m going out for lunch. Please, please, please nobody hit my truck because to be totally honest, I don’t think I can take any more stupid crap this morning.

How is your morning so far?

Given that Pam isn’t going to be online for a while I thought I would take this oppertunaty to tell one of my favorite Pami stories….

It was a few years ago, long before Noah came along, Brendan was very little. Pam and I were sitting outside watching him ride in his powerwheels Jeep. He loved it…and he looked so cute driving around.

He was driving rather well for a small child, until he was aimed right at Pam. Pam told him to turn “TURN BRENDAN TURN”. However in he paniced and drove straight at her…full tilt!

Pam couldn’t get out of the way fast enough…so Brendan totally ran into her with him Jeep! The front wheels where on her and spinning I believe. It was SO FUNNY! Mostly because everyone escaped with out harm.

I had never and have no since seen anyone get run over by a powerwheels jeep. Poor Pam! But thats what she gets for being so short I guess.

Although, I suppose it is a little alarming, there are children smaller than Pam…that could be badly injured but an accident such as this, a powerwheels pile up perhaps.

Ah, Pam has gone away and her computer is in a moving van traveling along the 401, the 405, and some other back country roads in Canada. I always wondered why it takes me a day to drive to my new house across the country, but the moving van takes a week. Are they stopping for lunch more often than I am or what?

Anyway, I wanted to make sure Pam had some posting in here while she was gone. Being inside her blog is very interesting. I noticed we need to do some housekeeping with regard to spam. Some of the spam creepies have found their way in here. I want you people to know that its going to be a tidy ship for the next few weeks, and spamism is not going to be tolerated.

Funny story from today. I was heading home from work and came up to a light and the cars in all directions were stopped. And I see this guy walking around out in the intersection. I couldn’t figure out what he was doing and then I see he’s chasing some kind of bird around in the street. This bird looks like a baby chicken, but its all black. Can’t fly yet I guess.

He chases it off to the side of one of the roads and then people start moving and honking at him. He gives them the finger and yells “You a$$holes don’t have any respect for anything!” I felt bad for him.

When I got to the intersection, the damn bird is heading back towards the cars. So I pull over and run out after it. Its peeping and running and I’m doing the “herding cats” thing, trying to get it back to the grass and up into the woods. I would have grabbed it if I could have. It was damn ugly. It stood about 8 inches high, had a tall flat beak and big eyes. Maybe it was a baby hawk?

Another woman got out (her car was in the intersection) and she helped me herd it into the poison ivy. Lots of loud clapping and yelling sent it charging into the woods and far from the road. I’m hoping Mom was in the woods or something. Hopefully it isn’t going to be eaten by a predator just yet. Felt bad I couldn’t catch him and bring him to a lost-ugly-bird shelter or something.

So what the heck did you chase today?
