I ran tonight. A lovely 6 or so km in a fREAKING snow storm! What the hell?

Is was blowy and snowy and icey and icky…but warmish and when we ran down to the lower part of town where the wind couldn’t get us it was actually quite lovely. Not nearly as lovely as say….10 degress or so.
Bah! I need a break from this winter crap! It’s endless and heartless this year! Now if Danielle for the frozen tundra happens to read this, please understand…winter is relative! And my years back in the south have softened me to the even the mildest winter weather. Tonights -10 windchill was ALMOST (but not quite) enough to send me back in the house for my running balaclava.

Easter this weekend..I’ve pretty much eaten all the candies we bought for the kids. The easter bunny needs to stalk up before he comes here.
I wish he could bring fruit and nuts. And not YUMMY SMOOTH CREAMY MILK CHOCOLATE. Sometimes I can for months without it (I know..Jon…UNTHINKABLE!) but right now I NEED it..must be the winter blues.

Also, I discovered today that I stopped taking my vitamins the last time i got sick and FORGOT TO START AGAIN!
DOY!
Oh yes and my shins? FINE during tonights run, which was run at a much slower pace. You think pace has anything to do with them?

We took the smallest one to the park this morning. It was ABOVE 0 and the sun was kind of shining.
Noah had a hoot at the park. His first time to really enjoy it. He was a little too small last year and kept leaving the park. Today though, he immediately climbed the equipment and slid down the first slide he found. Then he went for the tallest slide (which really isn’t that tall. Playgrounds are sooo “safe” these days…geesh!) and slid down the twirly slide.
He had the greatest time running around and climbing and sliding and cleaning all the gravel off the apparatus.
Then it was home time.
Rosemary’s baby returns.
There was screaming and yelling. He laid on the side walk for a second. Any street we crossed he tried to turn down. At several points on our stroll he stopped dead, then turned around and headed back to the park! He called it the “Fun Park” (like there is any other kind).
Anyway Chris finally just picked him up and carried him. He closed his eyes at one point and we thought for sure he was a goner. But an approaching recycling truck caught his eye and he was wide awake for the rest of the trip home.
Homemade pancakes for lunch, one of his favourite things to eat. He ate probably 20 toonie sized pancakes and then he stole one from my plate and ate the last bite of Chris’s.

Gah! I started this post at like 2pm and it’s not 7:15pm and my train of thought is lost! Brendan has been grounded for mouthiness for 3 days. He opted instead to go straight to bed after dinner. Something is going on with him and I’m not sure what it is.

on a lighter note….Feffie’s girlfriend and I bonded over email today. I sent her some pictures she might not otherwise see. She’s now taunting Feffie with them via msn. WHAT FUN!!!

I Went to Feffie’s and All I Got Was INDIGESTION March 21 2005

I visited Feffies yesterday. She was mucho hung over. I mean shaky and whiny hung over (oh joy). I was tired from -my- not- so- long- but- a- little- too- fast run so we laid around for awhile. Oh also I was stinky too. I forgot, Chris was re tiling our upstairs washroom, the ONLY washroom with a shower yesterday so I had to travel to Feffie’s house, a little on the wiffy side. Blech. So we laid on her bed, while I drank my tea…covered in fleecy blankets, she recounted the previous evening’s events. heh. She? GOT LOST IN HER BATHROOM!
I WISH I would’ve been there to see it, but alas I was not.
Anyway when she recovered enough to travel out of her house we ventured to Dairy Queen where we ate burgers and fries…which were SO. GOOD. For dessert we gobbled easter cream eggs on her futon while giggling uncontrollably about her misadventures the night before.
I was supposed to stay for the night, but the smell of rye and the sound of her landlord/upstairs neighbours installing laminate flooring drove us out.
By the time we got home I had a fat induced headache and my tummy was in knots.
I skipped dinner and instead had a half a toasted bagel later in the evening.

Things are slightly stressful around here right now, the details of which I will not humiliate myself
bore you with, and I think my relationship came frighteningly close to ending this weekend. Why? Well the biggest clue was when I told him that if we didn’t have children I would’ve left long long ago. Oops. Did I say that out loud? Did I mean it? Who knows. Sometimes I do mean it. Sometimes I don’t.
We’re on speaking terms again, and I am force feeding him a sleeping pills tonight so he actually sleeps past 5am and doesn’t term into a jerk at 4pm.
Running is going great…sore shins but not TOO sore. I went alone again tonight, I know I did at least 10k and 8k of it felt great. The first 2? SUCKED THE BIG ONE. My shin(s) get so tight in the first couple km that my foot hits the ground flat. There is not rolling from heel to toe, I hit flat. I stop and try to stretch it out (it is rock hard at this point) a few times, but eventually it just runs itself out and I am back to normal…heel ball toe action.
What is up with that? Not my shoes…they’re pretty new. Same old hurricanes I’ve worn for that last 3 pairs.
Argh!
Oh well the rest of the run was wonderful. Above zero…dry roads and NO slush or snow to contend with.
Perfect running conditions.
Hopefully I left my DQ fall from grace on the roads and not on my ass.

Happy Feffie?

I met with the women training for the Ottawa half today. They were great and a little bit faster than I usually am. So my long run was FAST today…well fast for me. It’s all relative you know.
It was good push though, it’s nice to shake it up every now and then.
So, I think they’ll be good to train with. I think i will pick up some speed with them. They want to do a marathon in the fall, the Marine Corps.
hmm…

That’ll Teach Me! March 18 2005

A few days ago, I jammed my finger in the bed room door. Well actually, I closed the bedroom door and stuck my finger in the way at the last second, it slammed me right in the middle of my nail. Not sure why. I just did.
Then I ran around the house HOWLING in pain and uttering MANY MANY curse words. Noah followed close behind trying to get close enough to kiss it. So he was with in earshot during my entire melt down.

And now days later I hear him shouting (into the backyard through our patio doors) “Fut me! Fut me!”

Lovely.
