Beverly's Running Blog

‘nother update

I haven’t ran in a week … things just crazy here.   If you were looking for a running blog, I’ll get back to you, or check out the links of many fine runners to your right.

Troy was a trooper for the bone scan.  The tech said that usually they have to repeat some portion of the scan with kids, because kids cannot sit still, but he was awesome.  It took over an hour, and he was just as compliant and still as can be.  He had is initial injection, then we had to take off for two hours to let the injection absorb into his body.  We had a great afternoon date at Chapters.  That kid is a book nut, I love it.

I should have the results by Friday.  In case this scan shows nothing — one of my fears, actually is that we get no diagnosis at all and therefore, no pain relief — I’ve also made an appointment for him with a pediatrician in Edmonton who does acupuncture.  From my experience in health care, I’ve seen acupunture change the lives of people in pain.  It takes over a month to get into see this doctor for just the initial interview, so I thought I should get that ball rolling.

This morning was a good morning for him, with a just-slightly-noticeable limp.  I would love to crawl inside his body for ten minutes, and see how much of the pain he has just normalized over time.

Camryn is going to my mom’s for the day, so I think I’ll head to the pool for a swim before cracking down to do some curriculum writing.  We had a skiff of snow and a pile of freezing rain last night, so I’m using that as my Running Excuse for the Day.  We can’t have two of us limping in this house.

I hope you’ll be running with Troy, soon enough. You are all in my thoughts this week! (and always :)

I hope they figure out what’s up with Troy. Snow and freezing rain, blah! Swimming is a good alternative to cracking your head on the pavement.

I just discovered your blog yesterday and have enjoyed reading about your journey. I hope that all goes well with the scan and that the doctors are able to diagnose the problem. I’m looking forward to an update. My prayers are with you and your family.
