Troy update and Thanksgiving mush

Filed under: General — beverly at 8:05 pm on Friday, October 6, 2006

Well, the xray didn’t show much.  The doctor didn’t like the xray (holy technical terms, heh?) and he feels that the situation warrants a bone scan.  We’re booked for next Friday.

On Troy’s good days, he has a noticeable limp but is very active and mobile.  On his bad days, like on Thursday morning, he can barely walk or do stairs.

He hated laying still for the x-ray, so this bone scan could be hellish.

I appreciate all of your good thoughts.  Strangely, I’m not as stressed out about this as I was earlier in the week.  We know nothing more, and yet I feel like we’ll just get to the bottom of it and deal with it.  I can’t stand to see our boy in pain, though.

On a happier note, our family is flying off the coast for the Thanksgiving (the Pilgrims landed here first, don’t ya know?) long weekend.  We’re staying with our old neighbours, and I can’t wait to kick back and have a wonderful time.  And run along the ocean … mmmmmmmmmmmmmm….

Happy Thanksgiving, friends.  Hug the ones you love.

He didn’t like it? What the heck did he mean by that? It wasn’t done right? He couldn’t see something? I hate when doctor’s give unhelpful comments like that. I have to ask them questions at that point until they do that thing where they are half out the door as they answer so they can run away quickly before you ask another.

Have a good Thanksgiving. Keeping fingers crossed for all of you.

bones grow and sometimes that hurts. when i used to baby sit and the little ones had aching legs i would use “many” pillows – i knew – i had fallen asleep myself with my legs upright against a wall. In fact I did this into my early twenties. Girls have this problem it seems more than boys (especially during the onset of menses) but it was not uncommom for me to fill hot water bottles and the like for little boys too.

as for hip pain – don’t ly on the side of the body. learn to sleep on the front or the back. it’s not as ‘comforting’ but it is less painful. in time your son may feel less pain and then can sleep again in a comforting curl.

thoughts & prayers,
