A not-so-top-o’-the-morning-type-of-run

Filed under: General — beverly at 11:22 pm on Monday, November 21, 2005

Thanks to everyone who brought stuff for the potluck. You’re all such brainy folks, and I love learning from/ being inspired by all of you. :)

Had a rotten run this morning. No one posts much about really rotten runs. Looking for feel-good inspiration? Not here today! Everything that went wrong did. My Forerunner crapped out … just me, forgetting to recharge the batteries. About 10 minutes in, I thought my right shoe felt peculiar, and indeed one of the insole thingys off my Saucony’s was missing. My daughter loves to try on everyone else’s shoes all day long, so I suspect she was the culprit. The shoe didn’t feel truly uncomfortable, it just felt different than the left, y’know? Irritating. I couldn’t get into the groove of a pace. I had a lot on my mind, and usually I can “run that off” and feel free, but this time, I couldn’t get it. The whole 35 minute ordeal was just annoying, and when I got home, it was one of the first times I truly felt as if I should’ve just stayed home in bed. (Note: Usually that is my feeling through the first couple of minutes of my run, not at all my feeling at the end.) I ran to my brother’s house and back, which I have calculated before is 4.9 k, so I’m guessing that was my time. And even that fact, the not knowing exactly what I’d done, truly annoyed me.

Anyone else wanna whine about a bad run?

Ahhhh. Tomorrow is another day.

(PS: I made the appointment about the insomnia. The iridologist may work on a referral to a sleep clinic. I’m thinking, if I can’t sleep in my bed, I’m supposed to sleep in a clinic?? Hmmmm.)

I never have bad runs. Ever. Nope, not me. Every run is an absolute joy. And complaining never helps, so I never complain about my running or injuries. That’s me. Never complain, never explain.

:D

Haven’t had a bad run since the marathon. Oh wait. I’ve only had two since then anyway. I’ll let ya know how they go from here. :)

Chin up, Beverly. Onto every run, a little rain must fall. Tomorrow will be better. (And hide your shoes!)

i have those crap runs every so often, even when i’m healthy. and ya know, it’s usually the shorter runs. i’ll knock out some cool track workouts, an eight or a ten, then have a wimpy four and it’ll kick my butt.

keeps us humble, i think. =)

That url is incredibly long but you can use it (a pedometer) to zoom out of Orlando and into your area and use the recorder to measure any stretch of road you like. You’ll be hooked.

Thanks for explaining a bad run, would have never known otherwise. *lol*.

As for the shoes, sorry it was hard not to laugh.

And David’s right, GMaps is most excellent. The new link to their site is http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

Holy cow I have a blonde twin! I have suffered for years with insomnia…and yesterday had the worst run of my life. I actually had to stop three times before finishing 5k…it took me 40 minutes and all I could do was laugh! Those days don’t happen too too often; but when they do it really kicks the poop out of one’s motivation. It’s been my experience that if I take a day or two off after a pathetic run I tend to come back hard and strong..I almost always get a comfortable long run in after those disasters.
Don’t down yourself too much…without the bad runs we would never know how great a really successful one feels!

I just finished reading your entire blog…you’re a freakin’ riot…and I totally love the lists. It’s funny to see how your running thoughts are the same ones I have! Very very funny and real stuff. It sounds like you’re doing fine with your running…don’t fret about a few bad runs! And keep making lists!..I’m adding you to my blog so I can track your listing:)
