right ankle woe and poll

Thanks for all of your encouragement and shared “grrr’s” about our friends getting caught up in the scheme. Call me a nut, but I have a hard time watching people I love make zany and potentially dangerous decisions. Sigh.

This is nagging at me. I didn’t want to come here and whine about my ankle, but now I must.

Did a really fantastic 8 k run and walk today. However, this is about the fifth consecutive time that I’ve ran/walked, and come home to only my right ankle slightly swelling and tingling. On the outside of my ankle, right above the bone, a puffy lump appears and is only mildly achy … from the lump right up the side of my calf. And this is only evident on the right side. The next day it is gone, until after I work out.

I haven’t really named my Forerunner yet, but I’m thinking I should name this puffy lump. It’s certainly hanging around enough.

Oh, and I have a hypothetical question for all of you, especially any male readers, as I need a male perspective on something for the sitcom pilot we’re working on. Give me 2 specific reasons that a guy who is straight and is best friends with a very hot girl would NOT want to sleep with her? My co-writer and I are arguing a lot over this aspect of our character, and I said I’d turn it over to the masses. Any convincing reasons?

well well, interesting question! :) at first i was going to say there isn’t any reason. hehehe! because you said, would not WANT to versus will not. dare i say i would always “want” to?? heheh.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
1) a friend is going out with her, or she’s married 2) oh crap i can’t think of any other reasons. hehe!

Hmmm, having a great deal of experience with this I would suggest:

1. He’s married.
2. She’s married.
3. One or both of them is religious and believes that they should be married first.
4. He is waiting for her Aids test to come back (I actually heard this from someone).
5. He’s blind and doesn’t see what he is missing.
6. He’s a priest.
7. He works with her and know’s this would totally ruin the work environment (and he really needs the job to feed his 10 kids).
8. He weigh’s 600 lbs and doesn’t even know if he has “one” anymore (my coworker just suggested this, I refuse to comment).
9. He will inheit the family fortune if he is still a virgin when he marries (I think I saw that in a movie once).
10. He runs too much and has no energy left (couldn’t resist this one – from my own experience this will never happen;).

the only reasons for me would be either are married/in a relationship.

If that problem does not exist, it sounds like a match made in heaven. How often do we hear, “my wife/husband is my best friend”?

Ouch! Ok, that doesn’t sound good. You might want to have that looked at or do some web digging. Anything with swelling is not a good thing. Well, you know, when there’s an injury with swelling and pain. Yeah.

And there is NO reason why a guy would not WANT to have sex with a hot woman. I think the reasons that everyone listed above are why he would not actually do it. Guys always want to.

well, i reference ‘when harry met sally’ and submit that there are no reasons why a guy wouldn’t want to sleep with a hot chick.

seems like i chimed in too late though, as all the good reasons for why he DOESN’T (both silly and real) have been submitted.

i’ll vote on them though and for the real reasons, i’d say the breakup/wanting to keep it as friends reason is great (unless you want there to be sexual tension). the other would be for religious reason (which gives you plenty of fodder for character development).

as far as funny reasons, i like the deformity and the aids test reasons.

You know, it occurs to me, how sad it is that this is a mystery I’ve not once had a reason to unravel. Regrettably, I do not fall into the “hot friend” category. Having said that, nor is it my experience that you necessarily even HAVE to be hot to get some action, so, you know, the chances that a guy wouldn’t sleep with a hot woman, when he’ll sleep with just about ANY woman, seems slim.

Here’s what I think: if she has some annoying personality traits – like she’s not very smart, or she’s really needy or high maintenance, for example – he would still sleep with her if he *knew for sure* he wouldn’t have to deal with her BS afterwards. However, if he had to maintain the friendship – for example, they might be roommates, or involved in some other long term transaction – he wouldn’t sleep with her just because he wouldn’t want to deal with her nonsense.

I could be wrong. :)

not a guy, so no comment on the hot chick thing,, tho I want to know your sitcom outcome,, and what you and your coworker did decide:)
