Help (Frequently Asked Questions)

Questions About Us

  • Q. What is this place?
    A. It’s a running web site. It’s a blog. It’s a network of blogs. It’s your new favorite place to hang out online with runners.
  • Q. What the heck is a “Running Blog Family/RBF”?
    A. It’s a ton of people who blog about running and connect with each other through a ginormous list of 1600+ blogs.
  • Q. What is the Complete Running Network?
    A. We host the RBF. Our mission is to grow and support the community in any way we can. We love you and your blog. A lot. Feeling uncomfortable yet?
  • Q. How do I contact you?
    A. At our contact page, of course!

Questions about Joining, Registering, Passwords & Member Pages

  • Q. How do I join?
    A. Click here to join CRN. Click here to join the RBF, and click here to submit your RSS feed.
  • Q. Why are there three things to join?
A1. Registering on CRN is for runners wanting to connect with other runners - not just bloggers (it is not for promotion of non-related websites or businesses). It gives you access to lots of stuff on the main website. When you register, you get your own profile page on CRN, you get listed in our member directory, and you can use our forum. Registering also makes commenting easier (you don’t have to enter your name, email and web site address each time you comment).
A2. If you have a running blog, you can join the RBF. It contains lots of searchable detail to help people find each other.
A3. Submitting your blog’s RSS feed gives us the means to show people your post headlines via our recent posts page.
  • Q. I am having trouble with my CRN login. What’s going on?
    A. Check the confirmation email you got when you registered. Were there any CAPITAL letters in the login? Were there any white spaces between words? Ensuring you log in exactly as you registered might just do the trick but, if you still have trouble, please email me.
  • Q. I can’t seem to get the picture to show up on my member page. What’s up with that?
    A. There is a known bug for those using Internet Explorer. If you were using Internet Explorer and had trouble uploading your picture, please try again using Firefox.

Questions About Commenting

  • Q. How come some people have pictures beside their comments?
    A. Those pictures are provided by gravatar.com. You can sign up for that here.
  • Q. I signed up for a gravatar, and am not seeing mine on CRN. What gives?
    A. The most probable cause is that the email address you signed up with at gravatar.com is different than the ones you leave in your comments here. Another problem might be the gravatar hasn’t been set up yet in gravatar’s servers. Wait 10 or 15 minutes and see if your avatar appears!
  • Q. It sure is a pain to have to type my name, email and website address each time I comment.
    A. Hey, that’s not a question! Seriously, if you register for the site and keep yourself logged in, you won’t ever have to type that stuff again.

Questions About Content

  • Q. Who writes for you?
    A. Most of our writers are also members of our community. They rock.
  • Q. Can I write for you?
    A. Sure - as long as you don’t suck (kidding!). Seriously, we’re always on the lookout for new talent so get in touch with us if you’re interested!
  • Q. I’m not really a writer - can I just submit stuff and take credit for it?
    A. Of course! Send us your links, photos, videos and anything else you think our readers would like to hear about!
