Yeah I know this is way way wayyyyyyyyyyy over due but heh, life just kept getting in the way…lol. Anyhow, here goes. I created a number of collages with pictures of things that I saw during race day – Calgary Marathon July 8th. I used a new tool I found on the internet. I love how it lets you create the collages with the number of pics you want and a variety of layouts. If you are interested you can download it from their website – Shutterfly Studio. Best of all it’s free! 🙂
This is the start of the half and full marathon. The runners will head east along 8th Ave.
It’s a shotgun start and they are off with a loud bang. Well at least those that weren’t stuck in the long potty linges.
Next it was the 10k start, which uses the same start line but runs west and quickly turns north.
There are some fast finishers so I don’t get the first ones but do get a few shots before I have to go back to work.
Then it was off to help out with the Kid’s race.
Next it was back to work delivering sandwiches to the other hard working volunteers. The great thing about that task was I was still out and about visiting with everyone. I’m such a social butterfly…lol. I ran into some friends of mine from the Calgary Roadrunners Cross Country trail race series. One of them took 1st place in his age group for the half (center photo). Now that’s cool. Other photos – cute dog (upper right), volunteer holds my sandwich tray (lower right). not sure what Jacqui and Dianna are doing with the officers but I had to take the shot…lol.
More work then it was time to cheer in the final running warriors – the ones that are out there until the very end. Watching these last runners finish brought tears to my eyes. Seeing how tired they were and yet still smiling. I know exactly how they feel.
All done for the runners but not the volunteers. Now it’s time to pack it all up.
Well that’s it for another year. Sorry I took so long in posting this. Now to catch up with the rest of my posts.
