The $20 haircut
Tonight I went to get my haircut again. I have abandoned Big League Cuts, despite their sassy stylists and back massages. When they couldn’t cut my hair straight, even after being told to make certain it was straight because they cut it crooked the last time, I decided it was time to say goodbye. Did I mention I bought a pair of hair cutting scissors to fix the inevitable mistakes from there?
Side story: I went to Target to buy the hair cutting scissors but couldn’t find any. So I asked a women who worked there, but she didn’t know. So she calls someone over her little walkie-talkie, “Do you know if we sell scissors for cutting hair?” The reply: “We have a lot of scissors, they can cut whatever they want with them.” Thank you, Target, for hiring hillbillies to work in your store. Morons.
There is this little hair salon place that I pass on the way to work called Zen something. They haven’t been there long. I think it used to be a restaurant. So I went there tonight. It was a last minute appointment so I couldn’t get in until 7:45 and I had to wait a bit. Oh well.
Anyway, the woman did a great job. My hair came out even. She was pretty meticulous. The other place kind of cut the edges to length and then randomly cut everything else until they got bored. This women cut all the hair so it came out perfect. She even did the jagged cut in places to make sure I didn’t get the “bowl” look.
I even liked the shampoo station. Normally I am almost laying down in the chair and choking because the sink is so low and my head has to tilt way back. But this place had the sink higher and it was alot more comfortable. And she didn’t scrub my head like she was cleaning the stove, like other places do. It was just a nice gentle wash. I mean really, how dirty does my hair normally look?
So $20 + $5 for the tip. Was that enough of a tip? 25%? I hope I wasn’t being cheap. Anyway, I really liked this place, its on the way to work, the people are talented, and my hair comes out nice.
No back massage though.

Sounds like a long term relationship forming there. That’s a good thing. One less thing to worry about.
