Cool morning
This morning is was beautifully cool. I think it was about 55F when I left the house to go run. The start of the run was over cast and very nice. I got sun later but I brought my hat so I was good to go.
I picked up a new running route from Map My Run. Have you been there? Its cool. Someone else put out a good running route for me (mileage and all) and so I tried it. A couple steep hills and many gentle ones. It used part of the running path I have been on too. I ran right from my front door so no dealing with the truck or parking. I ran 15 miles. I had to add on an extra mile and a half to even it out but it worked out nice.
I felt extremely good on this run. Even though it got hot later, I was over halfway done and still felt very fresh. I had carbed up well I thought, but got a few rumbly tummies near the 9 mile point. Gatorade pushed it down but I think I need to eat more carbs during the day before and not just for dinner the night before. I passed a farm stand/restaurant/ country store and they had big signs for CIDER AND DOUGHNUTS! I had $10 with me and was all I could do to NOT go in. The embarrassment of stinking to high Heaven helped keep me away from their front door.
I got nice cold soak in the tub when I came home after downing a giant glass of cold chocolate milk. I’ve been pretty ravenous today but I’ve kept on with the protein to fix the beat up muscles. Some carbs too. Tomorrow is crosstraining in the morning as usual. My legs feel a bit still now, especially the calves so some crosstraining will do them good.
I had a little pain on my right calf during the run and I slowed when it was misbehaving, and few times I stopped to stretch it very gently. Other than that it was very well behaved. The left one went on without much complaint which is something new.
Hope you all are having a good weekend.

I like map my run, and I also use USATF’s America’s Running Routes ( http://www.usatf.org/routes/ ).
I’ve put a couple of routes into the USATF site, and I’ve found a few there.

Dude, you skipped the cider and donuts? Stronger man than me. What’s with this 5K in New Haven thing - sounds like 20 would be cake…

Nice job (quietly) getting your mileage back up there AND dropping 10 pounds.

I ran 15 miles.
You said, “I ran 15 miles.”
Do you know how amazing that is? You were slug-of-the-month not many months ago and you’re up to 15 miles already.
Cool.
