When does the hot leave?

The humidity has been miserable here for so long.  I went out for 10 yesterday and was out the door by 8 am and already it was sweltering.  I’d say the last mile was the worst, as I was running dry and I felt dreadful.  I was kicking myself for not bringing all 4 bottles in my fuel belt.  Next time I will bring them all no matter what.  Better to have too much than too little.  My legs feel a little tight today, calves especially, but I’m going to the gym for a little crosstraining this AM and that should loosen them up.

I was surprised to see how many people were out there on the path.  Most of them I recognized.  I say hi to everyone I pass, although there is one woman that runs on the dirt beside the path and she often has her hat pulled down low, so I don’t say anything.  She seems to want to be ignored.  There’s an older guy that looks about 60 that I see out there nearly every week but he wasn’t there yesterday.  He runs on the dirt too and he is always very red faced but has a strong form.  Another woman on roller blades is a regular.  She has long blonde hair and wears shorts and a tank top that are pink or baby blue and she’s very tanned.  She takes long strides on the blades and keeps her hands behind her back, no helmet.  There’s another woman on blades I see now too, and she has full elbow and knee pads, and a helmet and she looks really fit.

I sprayed the heck out of a ground bee nest last night so I need to go check that for survivors this AM.  I think I sprayed their second entrance and not the main one, so I may need to pick up more spray today.  They stung the crap out of me when I was doing the lawn the other day.  When I got close to the next during the day yesterday, they came out and chased me away.  Rotten little buggers.

oooohh, i’m doing home maintenance too! today i’m putting up blinds. i just took the car in for an oil change (um, yes, i know YOU do that yourself, but it would be way complicated to do that myself in the city). can you see me crawling under my car with the street traffic driving by me?~?

You’re in upstate New York–the hot will leave all too soon, and you’ll find yourself saying “When does all this snow go away?”

Here in New England the humidity broke a bit last night. The temps are still high but there’s a breeze and the air is dry. Made for a nice run this morning, though I’m sure if I had done ten miles instead of 3 I would have been complaining.

Good luck with the bees. The biggest drawback to country living is the amount of insects you have to learn to deal with.

    Hey, the hot left yesterday.

You are so going to kill me at New Haven, it’s not even funny.

The humidy has been the same here in Michigan as well. It was cooler today, but looks to be hot again tomorrow.
