Don’t be so hard on yourself. I know if I were to get discouraged every time I ran a slower race I would have quit the first year - I’ve learned to just enjoy being out there, even if they take away the finish before I’m done :-)

Big Jon - it’s perspective. You’re not a runner who happens to have a wife, son, house, job, etc. You’re a husband, father, homeowner, etc. who runs. It sounds like there are other priorities at this stage and the heavy duty competition may need to be on ‘pause’ for a while. For whatever that’s worth …

here’s my itty bitty contribution. This WAS your first 5k. At least, that’s how i’m going to think about my next race. If I think about it any other way, i might cry.
