Luker chocolate
When I was in Canada for Around the Bay, I picked up some chocolate in the local market/mall/thing. It came in this big block and I was intrigued because it was from Columbia and it was for making drinking chocolate.![]()
For a couple of bucks it was worth a try. The chocolate is made by Luker chocolate and the only ingredients listed are sugar, cocoa, and lecithin. The big bar was actually two bars with half-cylinder sections in them.![]()
Basically you heat up a cup of milk or water (blech) in the microwave, throw in one section, and stir until you want to die.
You have to stir it for quite a while. The bar looks like it has big sugar crystals in it and while it is melting, the mixture looks pretty gritty. Actually, just gently stirring with a spoon will still leave floating bits of melted chocolate. You really need a whisk or to put it in a blender. Oh! Or even one of those miny mixers you can stir a single drink with. Yeah!
And the taste? I was pleasantly surprised. It was very dark and very good. Definitely not some Swiss Miss Cocoa gunk. I was pretty happy with it. I’d like to find a way to bring it to work to drink, although then I’d need to bring milk and all that and look like a freak bringing weird cocoa. Not everyone knows I’m a freak yet.
So, Luker Chocolate? Good stuff. Try it if you can.
Two side notes:
1) I got my picture in the paper for the chocolate judging. Close up shot. Mouth full of chocolate. Oh yeah, and complaining about getting a cherry cordial. Blech! :)
2) Apparently someone in Germany claims to have found a finger in a chocolate bar. I got $10 that says that finger wasn’t in the bar, just like the mouse in the fried chicken, needles in can of coke, finger in the Wendy’s chili, etc. Stupid statement from the cops:
“I suppose it went unnoticed because there were nuts in the chocolate and it was hard to tell the difference,”
Uh, yeah, and the roar of the machines drowned out the screaming of the guy who had his finger torn off and that’s why nobody noticed that either.

that looks like the chocolate that we get in the mexican food section of the stores here. Abuelita’s is the brand name. I haven’t checked the ingredients to see if it’s as pure. You need one of those mexican whipping thingees. I’ll see if i can find a photo of one for you.

I know it’s cheap chocolate but I’m a sucker for raisins and the office cafeteria justs tarted carrying Chunkys so I had to have one yesterday after lunch. I may have to buy them out.
