Oh, yes.

My chocolate ship has come in. :)

At about noon today I got the call. The call that said I got the golden ticket.

Here it is.

The regional paper put up an ad asking for “chocoholics” to be part of a judging panel to sample locally made chocolates as part of a Valentine’s Day feature. Chocolate. Free. They wanted a diverse group of talents and backgrounds for the panel.
So I spent about 30 minutes putting together the best begging and pleading letter I could. PLEASE LET ME BE ON THE JUDGING PANEL!!!!

Heh. Well, it wasn’t that bad, but it was begging. I sent them a picture of my truffles. And I sent them a picture of the raspberry cups. And I told them all about chocolate, and about chocolate chemistry and I even talked about chocolate patents!

And then I begged a little more.

Yes, looking back it was a little bit childish but I REALLY wanted to be on the panel. And I am. She called today and said I could be on it. She was kinda chuckling as she told me and I think its because I sounded like I already knew why she was calling. How could I possibly pretend I didn’t know why the newspaper was calling me? Poker face me.

And no I did not tell them about the blog. I WANTED to. In the worst way, but I was afraid they would have wanted to mention it someplace in their article or something and then I would be totally outed. I mean, I’m already outed but not to everyone and not to work. Mustn’t be outed at work.

So Wednesday night I get to go judge chocolate with six other people (who probably did not beg NEARLY as childishly as I did). The newspaper woman said there’s nothing I need to bring just be ready to eat alot of chocolate.  I’m totally psyched!

Thankyou all for your strong chocolate thoughts! :D

AWESOME! Can chocolate judges have groupies? If so, I’m one.

My hubby judges homemade wines at fairs, but this is better - you don’t have to SPIT!

Oh by the way? Don’t wear white - it shows the drool too much. Always wear something the colour of which you are judging, and no one will notice if you’re messy in your indulgence/er, “tasting”.

Woo-hoo! Wishing you much ultra-dark chocolate (my fave).

Now get ready to run, run, run.

P.S. I can directly attribute my downward spiral into blimp-ness when I broke my arm badly in 1994 and wasn’t able to do anything even remotely resembling exercise for months… at the same time my husband decided he was going to start experimenting with truffles. “Here, try this. Okay, now this one…”

I may have to stop reading your blog because I don’t eat chocolate as I gain weight just looking at it. I think I gain weight from reading about it too.

I was a chili judge once. They kept calling me back four or five years in a row. I think you do have a career.
Oh. Ask for a to-go box too. We’ll be over after Vanetine’s Day.
