My daily hour

I got in another hour at the gym today.  After a harrowing day of talking with 4th graders about inventions.  The things I do for the firm is amazing.  Next month?  Science fair.  I need a cool display.

With all the running around today I didn’t get my walk in, but made up for it with up and down stairs carrying supplies and stuff.

No running yet.  But I’m thinking Saturday is looking good.   No ice or rain, but a little windy.  I’ll wear my scarf.  A short run in the woods after weights.  I’m really looking forward to it.

Other news?  No other news I can speak of.  I find myself editing my posts to remove content that I WANT to say these days, but cannot.  Never know who is reading now.  Grrrr.

Speaking of that, a long ways back (a year ago?) I mentioned that something very bad had happened.  Did I tell about this already?

Anyway, what happened was that my (now) current company had asked for a picture so they could put together a profile of me on their website.  I sent them the picture.  BUT I had not yet informed my current employer I was leaving.  Well, a week later I was Googling my name on the web (because my job was busy like that) and up pops my profile on the new company’s website!  And it lists me as a FORMER employer of the (then) current company!

Now, you may say “So?  Why would your current company ever be Googling your name?”  Well, my boss came to me once and said he was searching the web about X technology and found a paper I was involved with that talked about X technology.  If you search that technology on the web, you find about 100000 websites with it.  Unless my boss searched them all, there was no way he “stumbled across” mine.  What he was more likely doing, was Googling his employees names.  Then my name pops up right with X technology.

All I could think about for the next week was the boss finding that page!  Funny now, not so funny then.

But nobody said a thing if they did find it because 1) maybe they stopped looking, or 2) they really couldn’t care less if I left as long as the boss didn’t lose the headcount.

I’m not sure why I was thinking about this the other day, but it just came up.  Oddly enough, for the life of me I can’t even remember my boss’s name.    :D

It’s funny what seems so terrible at the time ends up being no big deal. How can you not remember his name?! That is rather odd.

Greetings… as you said, you’re about ready to run on Saturday… Methinks that just what you need. You’ll have a clearer take on it.

Methinks you’re stressing too much on it

Heh my old job tried to get my new company not to hire me after I was nice enough to give them a heads up that I was leaving. That will teach me to be nice. Oh well it worked out in the end and I’m very happy at the new place. They are also very happy to have me.
