2006 in review

Meh.

That about sums it up. Taking a quick look at the 2006 list:

1) I will run, but I am going to be reasonable in my pursuit of it. Run the schedule, strive for speed, but don’t live it all day long when I’m not running. I don’t have to talk about it all day long. And coworkers will appreciate it.

Since running has been nearly non-existent since April, I pretty much hit this one square on. Sort of. Except the “I will run…” part.

2. Around the Bay 30K. I’m all over this race. Its my first race outside the US, my first 30K, and hopefully there will be some cool bloggers there to meet up with.

Done! This one I did get 100% on. :)

3. Touch my toes. I used to be able to touch my toes with my knees locked back. Now I can only do it (and painfully I must say) with my legs “straight”. This comes from having very tight hamstrings. I’m working on it and I’m making progress.

Hang on…stretching…stretching…nope.

4. Locate my abs again. I lost them some time last summer and its been very distressing ever since…This will require doing my Captain’s Chair leg lifts (straight legs) again, and losing those extra pounds.

My abs are gone. The layer of fat that covered them before has turned into a giant impenetrable blob. Losing those extra pounds? I can barely hold where I am.

5. The split… My goal is to hit 12 inches, with a stretch (heh, heh good pun) objective of 8 inches from the floor. This may sound bad, but if I can get 8 inches, I’ll be damn happy.

Um. No.

6. My second marathon………………..bwaaaaahahahahahaahaa! Gotcha. :)

Heh. 100%

7. Get rid of 1000 pounds of junk from my house. My house and basement is so full I want to scream. I want to clean it out but I need measurables. 1000 pounds. I’m already at about 20 pounds with the Ebay stuff that went out. Keep track, its going.

This one is 20%. I did sell the scuba gear on Ebay, and since we moved in, we have gotten rid of ALOT of stuff. The house is still full though and I see now that 1000 pounds is not enough.

8. Chocolate Fridays. I will have a Chocolate Friday post on FRIDAYS. Yeah I know, rinse and repeat, but I gotta keep trying.

Yeah, well, no.

So 2006 was a very bad year for me in terms of goals. I’ve fallen farther behind than ever. I will make new goals for 2007, but I think I need some short term stuff to allow me to achieve something if the big goals fall short. Again.

Hope you all have a great New Year’s. If you are drinking, please do so responsibly, because if you are drinking and driving? You are a flaming retarded jackass.

Comments

  1. it’s all about the journey, right? At least that’s what i’m telling myself. Without goals, we’re rudderless. I’m saying yay just for setting goals. Call me pollyanna if you want.
    :)

  2. My asses middle name is Einstein. Bet you didn’t know that.

I haven’t set any goals yet. I need to get on that.

  3. Heh, 2007 is gotta be a better year for both of us. I don’t even think I did half of what I had planned.

  4. When you set your goals did they include “move and take on a new job?” Probably not.

So it’s a new year and you get to have a do-over.

    Happy New Year!

  5. Happy New Year, Jon!

  6. Hmmm. You are courageous for reviewing goals that weren’t reached quite as you wanted. That tells us you can live with it and have the fortitude to let them go and make a renewed effort . Have confidence.

  7. you’re coming to do the Bay again right? I’m doing the bay (or at least some of it) this year. COME ON JON.
    DOn’T PUSS out on me.

  8. Wishing you all the best in 2007. I’m doing ATB afain. I’d love yo finally meet you!

  11. Me too! I like it when you actually GO out and zp canines! C’mon with the 2007 goals already.

  12. I agree with Jeanne – it’s all about the journey. I give you an A for effort. Well, okay, B+ :-)
