Burnt Hills Apple 5K

Ok, I ran.  I was meh.  The race was nice.  Another small local race which is a very nice thing.  No high pressure gunk involved, just local folks out for a race.  7:40 pace.  Not my hoped for target of 7:30 but it beats the New Haven 7:50.  The times are still dropping but not very fast.

Oh yeah, and to the short chick with the red headphones: next time you cut me off and make me run in a puddle?  I’m totally body-checking your swat little frame out the fuck into the road.  Its a friggin’ race not friggin’ roller derby you music playin’ sack of turds.

I was picking up my number and the guy behind the counter says I look familiar.  He asks if I know Joe and Jane X.  Yes, why?  “Oh, I’m their son.  I organized the race.”  When I last saw him, he was what?  Nine?   No, I don’t feel old.  I feel friggin’ ancient.  Please give my bib and my cane and my geritol so I can go do my race before they miss me at the retirement home.

So now I need another race, and I need to work regular cardio into the training to drop the extra fat I put on when I got here.  I think that really has to be the top priority.

Way to go! I personally like the races where it’s against the rules to wear headphones. You should’ve popped her. Here’s to your burning the fat!

That is an AWESOME pace!!! Be proud!! I’ve worked hard for a couple of years to get down to there and some people work forever and never make that.

I hadn’t even thought about using JetBlue for New Haven yet! That is an EXCELLENT idea! It’s only $69 each way which can NOT be beat. We’re thinking of coming up the second or third weekend of December.

I wish I could run that fast. You should have roller-derbyed the chick, but with you luck it would have been someone you knew or related to the 9-year race director ;-) Great race, I don’t care what you say!

Nice job, Jon. Myself, I’m doing a high mileage Lydiard program that’s supposed to send your aerobic capacity into the stratosphere. I’ll be posting my schedule shortly. Do you have a plan?
