Dove weighs in
I found three new (to me) Dove chocolate bars at the store last week. Organic Dove. Oh my.
Dove is a brand owned by Masterfoods which is part of Mars, so once again, one of the giants is branching out.
The first bar is their Dove Organic Milk Chocolate. The label mentions the “artisanal chocolate-making techniques” used to make this bar. That word, artisanal, seems to be a good word these days. I bought artisanal bread the other day.
This was so-so. It has a funny caramel overtone to it that I didn’t like. Very sugary. The ingredients look good with nothing funny. And 8 grams of protein per bar! Still, I like the flavor of the original Dove chocolate better, even with the vanillin.
The next one was the Dove Dark Organic. Very strange stuff. Very fruity flavor. I would swear it was a fruit bar with blueberries or something if I hadn’t seen the label.
But no blueberries in this one. The ingredients seems harmless, except for the word “flavorings”. A small asterisk notes that the “flavorings” are organic. Hmmm. I wonder what strange “flavorings” they added. Doesn’t seem very cricket to add flavorings to chocolate. I didn’t like this one either.
The last bar is the Dove Citrus Spice (dark chocolate). 
I can’t even begin to say how very HORRIBLE this bar is. Spicy and hot and dreadful! Somewhere in there is orange flavor but I couldn’t taste it. I spit it out and the rotten taste is still in my mouth. I want to die. AAAAAACCCCKKK! Do NOT buy this bar. You will regret it.
That’s it for this week. I need some water NOW!

Okay now I know I need some of the Dove citrus bar because Jon is trying to get us all not to buy it! Run Good!

YUCK, how can these bums think a citrus chocolated bar could taste good. I don’t know, but I don’t really like to mix chocolate and fruit,it takes away from both foods. I do like a good chocolate covered strawberry on occasion though!

Have you tried Seattle Chocolates truffles and bars? http://www.seattlechocolatesonline.com. They have these cute Chick Chocolates too!
