Did you hear that?
Pop.
Did you hear a pop sound this morning around 6:30 AM EDT? It was me.
More precisely, my back.
I leaned over, ever so gently, to pick up a piece of paper that was setting about knee high on a pile of boxes.
Pop.
That was the feeling in my lower back. I always heard about people “throwing out” their back, but I never got the “pop” feeling until now. Just for your information? It hurts. A lot.
I couldn’t straighten up at first, and then I gradually was able to move more. At first it seemed like it wasn’t going to hurt after that, but then about 2 or 3 mintues later it got very painful.
And now I have the same problem I had a few weeks ago, where if I sit for a while its extremely painful to get up again. Its in my lower back, near my waist, slightly to the right, with some pain running down the back and outside of my leg.
I have doctor’s appointment at 7:45 tomorrow. No doctor but I get the nurse practitioner (sp?) which is the same thing as far as I’m concerned. I get to pay my $40 and be told to go and rest and take ibuprofin. Sigh. I hope its just some strange muscle strain. Does anyone know what a herniated disk feels like?
Oh yeah, and no running today. I think I gained five pounds. :(

My darling long lost brother, yes I have thrown my back out sneezing. Rest and proper-paper- picking-up posture is the key. And as always, I must put in plug for YOGA once again! In yoga, the spine and muscles surrounding the spine are paid attention to and it feels awesome. Good luck, Jon. Hope you mend quickly.

Sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully what POPPED the wrong way can POP the right way. Feel better soon.

Holy rotten back problems batman! :( I’ve dislocated my SI joint…totally sucked and honestly the only thing that helped in the long run was activity; slow and steady keep moving: yoga, stretching, walking ~ oh and lots of Ibuprophen (sp?) Sending off a prayer for you to heal swiftly and fully. ~hugs~

what next! You gotta be making this stuff up. Nobody has this many things go wrong at once! but yes, i’ve had this, and worse, happen. doctors are indeed pretty bloody useless with back pain. Walking has helped me at times. Chiropractic, sometimes. I’ve never tried yoga while in the midst of an episode, but i try to do it weekly to forestall another acute episode.
maybe the nurse will give you muscle relaxants; they don’t do a thing but make you nice and sleepy!
FEEL BETTER!

omg! instead of the nurse, maybe a chiropractor would at least give you a massage and you still get to take ibuprofen.

Wow - disease infested mosquitos, random pops in the back…
Maybe it is time to get a Yoga or Pilates DVD (with the hot instructor) and work out those kinks, Unflexible Man
