Ow

It wouldn’t be right to go too long in NY without an injury.  Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) this isn’t a running injury.  Its a chocolate related injury.

See, I was going to make truffles for the folks at work.  So, I went to the storage unit today to find the temperer and the courverture.  I found the temperer but I had to dig for the chocolate.  The units are packed to the ceiling so there’s alot of moving of boxes and unpacking into the driveway area to get deep inside.  Many boxes are very heavy.  Very heavy.

I was lifting one big one and as I bent over to move it, I felt a sharp twinge in my back.  Lower back, right side.  I stood up and could feel things tightening.  The pain went into my right but-tock (said like Forrest) and down my leg.  Its wasn’t too bad but by the time I got the unit repacked and drove home, I had trouble getting out of the truck.

I took some ibuprofin and tried to lie down but it hurts to move.  It hurts to sit for too long and then its hard to straighted up when I stand.  It hurts to type this.
The same thing happend about two weeks ago too. (did I blog about that?)  It took a few days to heal up.  So, no run today, although oddly enough, running doesn’t irritate it any more than walking.

I wish Karen’s House of Pain was out here.  I’d trust going to her for help, but nobody else.  The doctor is useless, and too expensive now with my current insurance.

I never did bring the temperer back because it was too heavy to lift with my sore back.  No truffles for work.  :(

:( I’ve broken toes cooking. You’re not alone-I have your luck as well.

    Feel better…heal fast.

OW! I’ve never heard of either of those devices but I have heard of hurting your back lifting heavy things. Give it time - lots of time and lots of ibuprofen.

Clutter can KILL! Good thing you didn’t do something worse than wrench your back. Sad about the truffles not being made. That is always a sad thought…

Ouch! I’ve gotten the shovel-all-day-sore-all-night kind of pain, but I haven’t officially thrown my back out. Yet. My dad is plagued by back pain and it really can be so excruciating. Hope you feel better soon! And the no truffles is very very sad :(
And that is so cool that you actually temper your own chocolate. I’ve read about it, but I’ve never heard of anyone doing it.
Do you have to be able to temper chocolate to make truffles? Someday I need to learn how to make truffles….

Dang. I’ve heard of menstral cramps that make your hair hurt, but you sound like you’re in worse shape than THAT even.

    d’oh.

See, the priorities thing strikes - why not leave the temperer in the living room and the TV in storage?
