Breast Cancer 3-Day
Just wanted to drop a very quick post to get the word out about the Michigan Breast Cancer 3-Day. Its a 3 day, 60 mile walk to support breast cancer research and its done all over the country. In Michigan it is August 11-13 and goes from Stoney Creek MetroPark (Shelby Township) to Metro Beach MetroPark in Harrison Township.
Net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Days benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to fund breast cancer research and community outreach, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide an endowment for breast cancer initiatives. (taken directly from their website, so I know I got it right).
I want to give a shout out to Carol Hall who is walking for the first time in the 3-Day. Carol is the wife of one of our own RBF members, Russ. She has never walked this far before and is working very hard on her training. Carol has to raise a minimum of $2200, and she’s about halfway there right now.
If you are interested in donating to the Michigan 3-Day event, please consider helping Carol to reach her donation goal. Just go to her personal page and make your donation. You will be supporting a great cause and someone in the Running Blog Family too!

Thanks Jon! The more people who know about this the better her chances of reaching her goal! More important, the more money raised to fight breast cancer! So Thanks again!

I really wanted to do this- but they didn’t have one anywhere near my home :(. Seems like it will make for a really amazing experience.

The wife of one of my co-workers is doing this kind of thing–I’m not sure when or where, though. Great cause, great event.

They have just had a 5km marathon for the same cause over here in the UK. Oddly they didn’t allow men to take part to help raise money for breast cancer research. In my opinion blokes need to understand and be involved if they are to provide the right support for their partners or friends and relatives.
