I’m still here.

Things are moving fast and furiously now. We took a quick trip home over the weekend to look at more houses. We found a few good ones and put in one offer. This house had been sitting for months and oddly enough, we made our offer and then *BING* another one came in and we had to up the bid. I have my doubts about the existance of the other offer.

I came across something that I had not seen before in a house. They had a UV water purification system to kill bacteria (coliform). Does anyone out there have one of these? We basically crossed that house off the list, but maybe we were too hasty if these systems are common and reliable. Any ideas?

I did get some running in last week. 4 days of three miles each, so 12 for the week was pretty good. I wanted to do a long run while I was in NY but we had places to go early in the AM and we were up late every night. I’m still so tired and early to bed is not in the cards just yet.

That’s it. Hope you all are well. I need to go to bed.

Oh yeah, and by the way, its Pam’s 40th birthday today (May 9th). Go say “Hi” and tell her that she looks damn good for being over the hill. One foot in the grave and one on a banana peel with that one, but don’t tell her I said that. No seriously, she looks great for her age and if my Dad were not married and she were single, I’d set him up with her.

I’ve never heard of a UV system to kill bacteria. If you’re looking for places to run in the Capital District, try looking here. I don’t know where you’ll be in the cap district. Maybe I’ll see you at the Boilermaker this summer.

So what did you get Pam for her birthday? She needs something for 40 years. Wow, FORTY years?

I talked with one of the other microbiologists at work about the filter today, and he hadn’t heard of it either. He said he’d probably rather have a filtration system, though, and wondered if they had a really bad coliform issue with the water.

Are you talking about the UV light in a well system? We have ecoli in our well water. We thought about getting a UV light system in our well (runs about $1000) on the install or we could drop chlorine tablets in our well every year. We opted for bottled water for drinking instead. A water filtration system cost our neighbors about $3k+. The amount of ecoli in our water is so low that it barely registers. I prefer bottled water anyhow.

Yep, I have heard of it, and was told that it was the best system to kill bacteria. My cousin has one in his house. My sis in law is an engineer in water works,, so this is what I have heard. Good luck in your house buying/selling.
