KABLAAAM!!!!!!

Just got woken up by some LUNATIC that crashed into a telephone pole in front of our house. KABLAM!

Grab my flashlight, first aid kit, towels (to stop severe bleeding), run out like a lunatic down to the road. They hit a power pole on our side. Windows are all blown out, airbags deployed. NOBODY inside! Then I looked up.

There looming in the dark is the swaying power pole. They had clipped it clean off about 4 feet above the ground. Quickly scan for downed lines, then RUN from the area.

I called 911, and a cop and truck just arrived. Probably some drunken moron who didn’t want to get caught.

I scanned through the bushes though to see if they were thrown in there, but the windshield was intact. I hope they get their asses kicked if they were drinking.

Edit, 10:45 am

Here’s a shot of the utility pole.

That giant mound of dirt is the burm (sp?) my neighbors put up in front of one section of their property. I think it either hides the pasture or stops people from driving in there for parking and stuff. You can see the stub of the pole base lying on the ground, so the rest of the pole is just resting on the burm. I think the hole was actually right in front of the burm.
Last night the car was about where the pole stub was.

Oh, and see that old tire farther back in the background? That’s one of those “free stuff” things by the road. Someone will come take it away, you’ll see. :)

You are probably right about the driver being drunk. They will get caught, I’m sure. And then it will be even worse for them for fleeing the scene of an accident.

Glad it was the phone pole and not your living room window!

Holy cow. Very scary. Glad no one’s house got damaged. But am I reading this right - did you just get woken up at 10:45 AM? You need to tighten up your timeline, like they do on CSI. You can’t be that lazy.

One of the best days at work was the day some high school kid was driving like a complete jackass and ran off the road and plowed into a utility pole. They had to shut off the power for a couple of hours, so we all got to go home for awhile.
