Its not enough
Eight days now and no chocolate. Its a big deal for me. Today I realized that I had started eating candy to make up for it though. I found myself with two bags of Skittles and some Shocktarts. I also went a little overboard with the lime Tic Tacs. This isn’t helping. So I’m going to make an ammendment. I’m adding candy to the list. The exception being Altoids because after a fine lunch of chicken shwarmas with fresh garlic paste, Altoids are a necessity for work.
I ate lunch at a chinese buffet today. They had sushi and I ate enough to kill a goat. Hey, $7 for all you can eat sushi? Can’t beat that with a stick. I also found myself reaching for the desserts and had to stop because there was chocolate drizzled on top. Darn. Almost grabbed a scoop of chocolate pudding too. Darn.
Yesterday my 4 miles got cut to 3 because I felt really ill and my leg was killing me right from the start. I could hardly walk afterwards. Today it felt better but started to hurt again at mile 4, so I stopped, cutting my 8 miler quite short. I felt bad to have lost the miles, but later when my leg felt ok to walk on, I’m glad I stopped. If I screw up the 16 miler this weekend over a small midweek run, I’m going to be really pissed.
Here’s where it hurts. Stand up (unless you are driving), and lift one knee. Put your hand on your quad and move it back towards you until it hits your hipbone. Feel that muscle/tendon tensing below your hand? That’s right where it hurts on me. It hurt in the marathon and I thought it was my hip flexor but I think its my quadricep. It hurts very early in the run. And eventually gets so painful I can hardly lift my leg. Hopefully this will clear up soon.
I have wireless cable internet joy now. Did I mention this already? We got the cable. I know because its laying in the yard. This big orange cable that the cable guy said they would bury in the spring time. I hope they do it before I have to mow the lawn.
And I have a wireless router with was a bit of a pain to connect because I have Windows 98 and that sucks. I hooked up all the security stuff that I could find on the web so hopefully only the sneakiest of sneaks (like the Top Secret neighbor) can steal my internet.
I’ve been having fun with Blogshares lately as well. Its funny money and I think it was Susan that said it was like Fantasy Football. Yes it is. I trade many of your blogs too. :) Its kinda fun. People are very serious about it though. Screw around and they take you before the Blogshares Security and Exchange Commission and suspend you. Oh, and you can help me get free “chips” by clicking here or here. It just tells them that I referred you to Blogshares and Quacktrack, respectively. I think Quacktrack basically tracks the Blogshares blogs.
Oh nice. We have a thunder and lightning storm and the cable just disconnected. Hillbilly cable company. We can only get one company out here. I think we’re luck we have phones.
Anyway, hope your running is going well. Who all is going to Around the Bay?

I am 50/50 on ATB right now due to knee injury. Hoping to make it though. What an awesome race.

You must be loving your wireless! That’s a strange pain. Yeah, maybe psoas…sounds just like it. Have you seen this:http://www.naturalreflexes.com/pages/Psoas.html
Take care

I really want to do the ATB race this year, but won’t be able to. I’m running the Ottawa marathon in May and then the 25 Km Vulture Bait Race in London On. in October.

Altoids don’t count as candy! Those are freebies, for sure. Blogshares? Like I need ANOTHER reason to sit in front of my computer…remember that I don’t run a million miles a day like you. And I sometimes eat chocolate. ;)
March 9th, 2006 11:11
I’ll be at ATB. Looking forward to it!
March 9th, 2006 12:43
I’ll be at ATB in spirit only! I’m impressed with your unchocolate days but didn’t know you could kill a goat with sushi!
March 9th, 2006 13:06
I’m doing ATB, we’ll all have to meet up somewhere.

Is wireless cable an oxymoron?

Last year I only gave up chocolate and inhaled candy I don’t even like. I have also increased my fruit intake for the sugar I guess. I just realized I think I have increased my bread intake too probably a carb thing. My leg hurts there too, my massage therapist says it is my soaz muscle and sent me to a chiropractor. I have gone yet.

Okay; I’ll give it to you straight up. That pain at the top of your quad at the hip sounds like the same garbage I have had. Sherlene the Magic Massage Therapist says I need to do more abductor and adductor stretches. I wasn’t stretching enough after my runs. (Still not)
Now I’ve known you long enough to know you like to scrimp on those streches after running. Hello?!??! Have we been here before?
That is all. Carry on.

OK, I don’t need another reason to sit at my computer, either, but I went to look at Blogshares.com, and the domain name had expired.
Good work on the chocolate! Keep it up!
March 10th, 2006 17:23
definitely psoas, there is a stretch for it in the latest RW on page 54, stretch it and see if it gets better, let us know! Run Good!
March 10th, 2006 21:54
you’re a crazy man! good luck with the 16 miler. I’ll be crying over my l’il 8k on sunday, i can’t imagine a 16-miler! hope your psoas feels better!
March 11th, 2006 22:56
Do you seriously trade us around all the time? That’s so funny! I’ve never played around with Blogshares, it sounds very addictive.
Congrats on the cable modem! You’ll be hooked for life.

what happened to “kill your TV before it kills you”?
ATB I don’t even want to talk about. Think of my when you hoards of runners in lime green singlets.
