Lots o’ ‘mill runnin’

Posted By Jon on December 15, 2005

All my midweek runs have been on the treadmill lately. By the time I get out of work, its dark and cold and the coyotes (and cougars, apparently) are out. Its not so bad. Rachael Ray is there. The Nike Brothers were there tonight. Oh wait!

Somebody talked to the Nike Brothers. This woman walks up to them and says “Hey, I ALWAYS see you two here together.”

And the one Nike Brother (heretofore named Nike #1) says “Is that OK?” But he’s got a really heavy slovic accent so it doesn’t come out as confrontational and annoying like it would for an American accent (chill, you in the back, its just an observation). And she’s says “Oh, no, its just that I never see one of you without the other one.” Nike #1 says “Well, its for…motivating!”

I must say I feel quite fooling now trying to strike up a conversation with them. I mean, then I’ll just look like I’m copying. Or worse, like I was eavesdropping, which I was.

My shins (it always gets around to this eventually) hurt. Not alot. But they are sore and my calves feel weak. I realized I have been doing any weight training at all. Karen said I need glute and abductor strengthening. And all my upper body work has fallen to pieces. Maybe that’s what I need to help boost the weight loss. At least one day a week of some upper body stuff.

Not much else to report. Ok, Pam, you win. I’m scrapin’ here.

So you can’t ever never talk to them because someone else did first? Man, that’s harsh. And mental.
    :)

This time of year, any effort is a good one. At least that what I keep telling myself. The glute and adductor exercises really do help, so keep at ‘em, Jon.

I hope you get a shin transplant for Christmas.

I feel the treadmill thing- I drove around Ann Arbor the other evening (technically I was supposed to be X-mas shopping) just truly depressed that I hadn’t run on a street for so long. C’mon spring. I need to GO somewhere!! :-)

Wow – the accent explains a lot. How cool is that? Inspiration from around the world, right at your gym…

Wonder if the dazer works on cats?

YOU LINK TO ME TODAY? THE DAY I BLOG ABOUT HOW I FORGOT TO PAY MY PHONE BILL? OY!

And what’s with you…being all cool “chill”. Smell you and your coolness (and possibly your tender shins)

The cougar story is a bit freaky. You need to call the Dazer ppl and see how it works on general wildlife. I think you need to make friends with the Nike guys and you can be Nike #3!

  14. Oh yeah, I’m with Heather. Scraping for something to blog about (besides a treadmill and the Adidas bros?) I tagged you for more random stuff :)

Does she really go to your gym? Does she abbreviate things at the gym too? If I hear her call extra virgin olive oil “EVOO” one more time, I’m going to have to snap her in half.
