I’m doing ok.
I was looking back along my training so far for The Bay, and I found that I am pretty much right on track. I’ve kept my weekday miles, my long runs, and even my hour of crosstraining on Sunday. I think I missed a run at the very beginning but I’ve done ok since.
Saturday I had 5 miles on the schedule, but because I can’t actually read a schedule, I ran 8 miles instead. It did seem odd to me that I had put that distance for a long run during the “base training” part of the plan. I just need to make next week the lighter week.
I did ok on the run though. I held a nearly dead-on 9:00 pace for both halves. We had more snow recently so it was definately a Yaktrax kind of day. There was a slight breeze so by the end it was kinda cold because I was running into the wind and my jacket was pressed against me. No room for insulation so I was getting chilly.
No dogs to daze this weekend but last weekend I got Idiot good. He was in the middle of the road barking at me from a long way off. Then he moved into his yard as I approached.
Captain! Idiot dog of prey, decloaking off the starboard side!
Shields up! Arm all Dazer banks.
Shields up, Dazers locked. Dog of Prey coming about into attack position.
Fire!
Direct hit, Captain. Dog of prey coming around again.
Fire!
Direct hit again, sir. I think he’s…he’s coming from behind!
Fire aft Dazer banks!
Direct hit! Dog of prey is breaking off, Sir.
Idiot was clearly distressed by the Dazer that time. No doubt about it. The way his head shrunk back from it told me it is an effective deterant. It was kind of neat to hit him as he came up behind me. I just held it backwards in my hand and pressed the button. When I came back on the return trip, he was standing way back in his driveway and didn’t make a sound. :)
Oh, and I discoved someone on our road has llamas (sp?). They have a large farm and the fence had been there while, but there was a new electrical fence wire run along it and there were three llamas walking around now. They were very curious about the fool running in the road and watch me for quite a while.
The “check engine” light is on in my truck and I’m having a heck of time figuring out why. Usually that’s caused by a sensor that has failed, like your EGR or MAFS. The MAFS looks ok, but I think it may actually be the oxygen sensor. I have a code scanner and I would check it out exactly if I could find the damn EEC conector. Ever manual I find says something different: near the firewall, along the side, in the middle. Whatever. I can’t find the damn thing to save my life. When I do find it, I will take a picture of it and the engine too so that at least someplace on the web will show exactly where it is located.
Oh yes, and to the drunken moron that drove his car into the ditch near my house tonight, and who didn’t want to call a towtruck or the cops because he’d be arrested for driving drunk and not having insurance? I hope a cop stops and throws your drunken ass in jail. Did you know you were stuck less than half a mile from where someone we knew was KILLED by a drunken moron just like you? Did you know it was less than a month ago? Did you know that you totally DESERVE to go to jail? Did you know that’s why I didn’t pull your car out of the ditch? You deserve it. You are scum. I hope you go to jail. I hope they give you a cavity search. I hope you lose your license until you are dead. I hope your next bottle of booze is poisoned. I hope your drunk wife sleeps with your brother. I hope he has herpes. I hope you get it too. I hope you get hit by another drunk. Drunk driving scumbag.

Uh … you’re sure it was a drunk and not some poor fool going too fast and sliding on the ice/snow/wet stuff?
Funny that you had to daze Idiot at the same time the Idiot light in your truck lit up. Any connection?

Here’s what you do with the check engine light: duct tape. Problem solved! Once, I found out it came on bcs my gas cap wasn’t screwed on tightly enough (kinda like my head).
And the drunk in the pickup? I would have called the cops on him in a new york minute. no questions asked.
But then, I REALLY REALLY hate drunk drivers.
And what is this new thing you speak of that scares dogs? I want me some!

Where is the photo of the llamas!? Llamas are so cute. I have a sign in my apartment that says Llama Crossing with a picture of a family of llamas. I don’t know why I am sharing, but there you have it.

Don’t you just hate those check engine lights - wish you could just Daze it. Don’t get too close to those llamas in case you get spit at - I think they spit only when they get irritated though.

Concur with you on the drunk driver! Been hit head-on by one 3/27/98 @ 11:27PM in Phoenix. During my starving college days, was heading home from a long day at work. And the bastard walked away w/only stratches, me broken right arm, dislocated shoulder, back problems, 3 stinken days in the hospital. So much hassle but lived through it, fired 1st lawyer-complete loser making me do the run around, 2nd one just ok. Live and learn, I was young and naive.

Love the Dazer! Best money I ever spent. Have you tried it on the llamas yet? I hate drunk drivers, we had 2 friends killed by drunk drivers about a week after we graduated from college. It’s just not right. I say turn ‘em in and have their car towed!
