Choxie from Target!

I went to Target yesterday because I got a tip (thanks, Dark Side! :) ) that the dark M&M’s had been rereleased. I had tried the peanut ones and didn’t care for them, but maybe the regular ones were better.

They weren’t as bad as the peanut ones but I still didn’t care for them. The dark is still very bitter and not so very good. Its an interestnig idea but I think ultimately it didn’t work out so well. Sigh. It had alot of potential though.

They also had bags of pink M&M’s to support the fight against breast cancer. I’m pretty sure the taste is the same as regular M&M’s so I didn’t open the bag yet. I think Dawn will like the color. :)

For every bag they sell, 35 cents goes to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. So go buy a bag and support a good cause.

While I was there I spotted something very new to me. Choxie. At first I thought it was some odd brand that Target had picked up, but it is actually Target’s brand of chocolate. They have a bazillion different types and flavors. Chocolate covered pretzel things, mocha chocolates, caramels, crushed candy cane covered things, truffles, malted milk balls, and even the dreaded ginger chocolate.

I picked up these two normalish kind of things. The packaging is typical of the brand. Lots of different funny boxes with wierd trendy designs. Very Target-esque.

I must say I was totally shocked that these actually tasted pretty good. They are molded shells with a soft center, kinda like Godiva (but its definately not Godiva, ya know?). The dark ones were Ok, but they had vanillin in them and the aftertaste was kinda heavy from it, which I didn’t like. I thought it was kinda funny how they described them as having “lingering cocoa notes”. I think that wasn’t cocoa that was lingering.

The other ones I tried were the Milk Chocolate Tristed Truffles. These were exceptionally good. Very soft center which had kind of a faint caramel flavor to it. These used real vanilla (yes!) but had high fructose corn syrup in them. Not sure why they did that but it didn’t seem to hurt the taste at all. Very nice.

Now these are not cheap. The Double Dark Truffles were $5.00! 50 cents a piece seems kinda steep, but oh well. Now, you can get some for FREE! Yes, FREE! On November 6th, at all Target stores you can try free samples of them. Yea! While supplies last so get there early. Somebody please go tell Zoot.

  1. i love m&m’s but dark m&m’s, i don’t know. i’ll have to try some… thanks for the heads up about target choxie.

  2. Woot Woot! :) I am there Nov. 6!

  3. I’m not a dark chocolate fan, but the pink ones are great. I’ve tried with and without peanuts. I like the peanuts best. Funny I was thinking of sending you some for Chocolate Fridays.

The plain pink ones are great in cookies. I made a batch for last weekend’s race — chocolate cookies with Pink M&Ms, nuts and white chocolate chips. They were pretty yummy.

  4. I am being completely honest…I was eating a tootsie roll as I clicked onto your blog. Now I am headed back to get more after reading your post.

  5. We dig the Target chocolate coated strawberries. Never read the ingredients. Sounded great.

  6. Sorry, tasted great.

  7. I cannot believe how many different things are to say about M&Ms. The company should really be your sponsor for all of the PR you give them…How could would that be…

  8. how “cool” would that be…

  9. Is it just me or does that choxie box look HUGE! I think your keyboard is in the background so it is HUGE. How many milk chocolate twisted truffles come in that box? Are there any left? Mmmmm…enjoy!

  10. frolicking filly says:

  11. Ooooh! Yeah! Now I can eat m&ms and support women at the same time!! I guess I’ll have to sacrifice and buy two pink bags this week.

  12. I’m going to be one of those people handing out the samples on Nov 6!

  13. I just ran across these things today and ended up getting a row of seven truffle temptations and a box of artisan truffle tiles and both boxes proved to be quite delish! Especially with flavours like chili limon, jasmine tea and cinnamon praline! Definately worth the $5 each box cost and I’m goin back for more!

  14. I just bought a box of Choxie dark chocolate raspberry sticks at my local Target. It’s advertised and packaged as premium chocolate, and folks this is the real deal. It may not be the highest end confection in the world, but it’s very high quality and quite delicious. My one complaint (as with most American chocolates) is the filling has an almost chewy texture, which may have more to do with the manufacturing process than any actual American preference for chewy texture. I’ll have to try the truffles soon. Hopefully they won’t be chewy too. Truffles should be creamy and almost fluffy, imo. Off to map out all the nearest Targets in my area to hit on Nov 6! ;)

  15. Have a look at my sister-in-laws website her sweets are out of this world…

  16. Considering the association between sugar consumption and breast cancer risk, it is appalling that the Susan Komen foundation would partner with MASTERFOODS, the company that produces M&Ms to promote the sale of M&Ms. While there are some supposed benefits to consuming chocolate, it is the kind that is 70& cocao and organic, not the processed, chemical, sugary, milk-chocolate ingredients founds in M&Ms candies. I love chocolate as much as the next person but to promote breast cancer research in conjunction with M&M consumption is irresponsible marketing. It’s like selling McDonald’s French Fries and donating a portion of the proceeds to support obesity research!

  17. Choxie is some of the foulest-tasting “chocolate” I’ve ever tasted. I’m very dissapointed, they put so much effort into the packaging, could they give us something besides partially-hydrogenated vegetable oil? I rarely find a chocolate I don’t like, but I through away the truffles and the bars I bought after a bite.
