While I was falling apart at the Detroit Marathon, another guy was also running and doing something truly amazing for a wonderful cause.

I found a few early shots from the marathon.
This one is of “Jon” from NYC that was in my pace group. He was a real riot out there running. I was waiting for him to break into some kind of marching chant with his drill sergeant voice. I think he is 58. [...]
I wrote this a day or two after the Detroit Marathon. I’d say the horse is quite dead from all the beatings, but I wanted to record it in my blog so that I remembered how I felt and some of the reasons for it, even if I don’t feel that way now. [...]
Today’s contestant is Jon in Michigan and his celebrity partner is The Detroit Freepress Marathon!

Things I can remember from the race today:
- ten million wonderful screaming cheering people!!!!!!!
- well staffed and very polite aid station folks!!!
- hot women screaming my name ;)
- starting out much too fast (4:15 pace group)
- our pacer (Jim?) with orange spray painted hair
- stopping to pee on Canadian soil, literally (sorry guys)

What the heck time is it anyway? Its the time of the morning when you say, why the heck am I doing this? All I can say is, they’d better have good snacks!
