More ART

Went back to Karen for another ART treatment last night. I had been feeling alot of shin pain since the last run (uh, wasn’t that the 5 on Tuesday?). Anyway, Karen worked that spot first, and the pain this time was about 100x worse than the last time. This time my eyes watered. Even she stopped saying we needed to ease more slowly into that one because the adhesion was so large.

Afterwards is very nice because 1) the pain is over, and 2) my leg feels much more loose and my heel doesn’t hurt. Its odd because she never works the spot that normally hurts, just all the attaching parts. And its just odd that I can run afterwards.

I modified my plan last night and did only 3 miles because it was pretty dark and I also did want to work the leg too hard. Tonight I do the 10 (an easy pace!). Then rest. Then 20.

Karen said she wants me back Friday, but I need to see if I can swing that. She said that its difficult to work this when I’m coming only once a week because the time between treatments is so long. For those of you who had this done, how often did you go?

Last night there was a big storm here and there was a frog hanging onto the glass window by our front door. He was really small and had little tiny suction cups on his toes. African Tree Frog in Michigan?

I went twice a week for several weeks. Cha ching!

Then I scaled back to once a week, then once a month. He said I’m probably good for once every two months now but I think I’m better off going once a month as it the tightness in my shoulders and neck returns within a month.

    Good luck Jon.

Wow - 30 miles in one night? You’re going to be running with Marshall any day now. Good idea to take a break, btw.

I’m trying to think of something bright to say about Chocolate Frogs, like in Harry Potter… but I can’t.

That ART stuff sounds painful. I guess it’s good that it helps you run, but I’m scared of all that pain. Ouch!

If it’s helping, I think I would go in when she said. Especially with the upcoming race. Sorry you are having these issues Jon. No fun. I know.

You’re body will tell you when you need to do the ART. If the treatments are helping to get and keep you on the road then my advice is do all that you can. Aren’t frogs raining for the sky a sign of the apocalpse or something? Remember the film Magnolia…hmmmmmm…

I went about every 5 days or so for the first 4 treatments but now once a month is enough….unless I get bucked off or something!
