Computer is back

Posted By Jon on September 19, 2005

I finally got my computer up and running. My power supply from Beach Computers arrived today and it worked perfectly. Ok, I had a little scare when it first booted up because it said “no operating system found”. Plugging a power plug into the hard drive seemed to fix that.

So I was finally able to download my splits from New Haven, and although its kinda old news, I’ll still put them here anyway for the record.

mile 1 – 8:35
mile 2 – 8:20
mile 3 – 8:11
mile 4 – 8:13 (this is the sum of two recorded laps)
mile 5 – 8:11
mile 6 – 8:36
mile 7 – 8:25 (running w/ Dianna now)
mile 8 – 8:35
mile 9 – 8:12
mile 10 – 8:24 (the HILL)
mile 11 – 8:08 (trying to catch up to Dianna)
mile 12 – 7:46 (running w/ April Anne)
last bit – 3:14 (Forerunner says it was .427 miles)

Thanks for all the helpful advice and encouragement about my heel. I have an appointment Wednesday to see a specialist in Active Release Therapy to deal with my achilles tendonitis. My shin splints on that same leg are most likely involved with the whole mess as well. I’m hoping she’ll have a good treatment that will help me continue training. I’m not sure what to do tomorrow for a work out, but I know this evening I’m still very sore and its hard to walk without a limp. Not so very good.

After finally updating my running log I realized that both pairs of shoes are nearing the end of their useful life. Pair 1 has 283 miles (10 months old) and Pair 2 has 243 miles (6 months old). Still a little early mileage-wise but I think maybe with the rain on them and their age, that 300 miles may be it for them still doing well. And an oddly compressed shoe might cause other issues. I think I will pull out the new pair of Mizuno’s and look into getting the racing flats. I’m not sure the flats will be the best thing for the marathon at this point, but I want to work myself into them now.

Just noticed that August 10th I hit my 1000th mile lifetime milepost. :)

  11. hmmm if all good runners lose tonails, does that mean I am a good runner. :-)

Way to go on the 1000miles. You still look to good to trade in so ignore those guys. ;-)

Your times were great! And congrats on the 1000. I’ve got a pair of shoes that need replacing after only three months — they were crap and everytime I wear them, my feet hurt afterward.

Don’t procrastinate on shoes … tsk, tsk, tsk. :) Congrats on the milestone!

  16. Wil says:

Wow – go you with flats! I’m still too chicken for those – I’m sure you’ll ease into them with no problem. And congrats on the 1000th mile! Holy cow!!!
