I ran 8 miles!

I went out this AM for my scheduled 8 miles along the old trolley line near my folks house. I had run this route before but the least time it was only 6. To get the full 8 I had to run in an unpaved part that may or may not have been posted. Its was hard to tell and I say the signs were not in a conspicuous location. Who’s going to look at a sign hanging in the middle of a big steel gate anyway?

I was lucky to get out early because it was warming up fast. The first 20 steps felt incredibly awful but the next 3 miles were only terrible. My right hip hurt and my left ankle and knee had that painful wobbly feeling. I think if I had done a few miles yesterday it might have been better today, but I took Tuesday as a rest day and laid around being a bloated oaf.

Tomorrow I only need 4 miles and then I get rest day again. Yea, for rest day! I know its kinda pathetic to be happy about rest days but my legs hurt and they seem to enjoy resting more than running these days. Saturday I have 12 miles, but that seems so easy now. Well, not easy but definately not the big run that it always seemed. Isn’t that funny? 12 miles becomes the easy run.

Still have a million blogs I want to catch up on, but I won’t have much chance for the next few days. Hope you all are doing well.

Glad you were able to drag your creaky body out there and get back on task. You DO have a marathon ahead which I know will be cake for you. Let’s just make sure it’s chocolate.

Rest days will become even more sacred as your long runs (and mileage) increase. You will also come to realize how glorious it is to SIT DOWN after a long run!

i love the completely bizarre statement, “only 12 miles”. to non-runners, and taken out of context, it makes you sound like a madman. =)

Some run days are just plain awful physically, I think that’s the part where you test your will power. Glad you got some rest.
