The good the bad and the ugly

The Good: We’ve had some nice cooler weather this week and Tuesday was just marvelous. I think it was 65F or somthing like that. Perfect! I had 3 miles on the schedule and I started out flying. It felt so nice to be running in cool weather again, it was hard to run slow. So I didn’t. I ran it much too fast. 3.1 miles (5K), 8:03 pace. It felt really good to pour it all out. Not so bad considering the long run a few days earlier.

The 7 miles yesterday was rough. I knew I’d be paying for my carelessness from the day before so I took it slow and easy. 9:30. I wasn’t really hurting but it did feel harder than it should have been. The shins whined a little more than normal. I noticed on the downhills I didn’t have much control, and for a 7 mile run I shouldn’t be having these problems.

Oh and the doggies were out again, although their behavior was significantly modified. Idiot and Tripod weren’t out, but hounddog and springer were. Hounddog was across the road marking his territory and came jogging up to me wagging his tail and with his head tipped down. He came a little too close so I gave him a tweak with the dazer and he did a lazy wide circle around me, and let out a very weak “woof” under his breath. Maybe he was being nice and I insulted him. Springer came charging down the lawn like before but this time stayed well up inside the bushes and barked. Chicken.

The Bad: Today I had 4 miles scheduled and it felt bad from the start. I had the weak painful feeling in my left leg. A shooting pain that went from my ankle to my knee. It made my leg feel weak and wobbly. I wasn’t tired at all, just in pain. I made it two miles (9:40, 10:40) and then walked one more to get back to the truck. It wasn’t very good at all. I really regret running so fast on Tuesday. It was pretty stupid and way off from my plan. Plan your race, race your plan. Grrrr.

So tomorrow is a rest day. And maybe I will feel better on Saturday for my long run. If it hurts at all, I move it to Sunday. Knucklehead me.

The Ugly: Tomorrow is also Chocolate Friday and I haven’t got a thing to post. And buying piles of Snickers bars for 33 cents on clearance and opening them to see if I won the $75000 is not really newsworthy.

Yep, the morning after feeling. Going out too fast, paying the next run, you’re starting to train like I do! Gee, if I won 75000 right now I’d join you in New Haven:-)

Poor Mr. Hounddog…he was trying to be nice! Make friends with him next time - maybe he’ll tell the other dogs to leave you alone!

The most buring question is: What did you do with all those OPEN Snickers?

You know, if you need someone to help you with those open Snickers bars I’m sure I could manage a couple… dozen… in the pure interest of friendship and support :)

you just have to get the dazed dogs on video tape. I’d love to see the tripod being stunned. heheh. Have you tried deep fried snickers - heard they are hot at county fair concessions.

All this whining is otherwise referred to in the sports world as SANDBAGGING. Okay? This weekend and next week should be Taperville, Jon.
Will the dazer help you in a human race? Better leave that thing at home.
