Pfffft.

I ran my 3 miles yesterday at the park. It was incredibly hot and humid and I wanted to die. Lots of people there. In my way. Two people walking, very slowly, a woman with her baby stapped to her belly walking a giant dog, and some lunatic on his roller blades all converged on me at the same time and its a miracle we didn’t all end up lying on the grass with bruises on our heads.

I’m sorry but the disc golf people just annoy the crap out of me. I hate their ratty shorts and sandles. I hate their three-day face scruff. I hate their scratchy, cigarrete smoking, voices saying “Duuuuuuuuuude!” all the time. And I really hate their big-hair girlfriends in miniskirts parading around behind them, giggling and flopping all over each other, trying not to spill their bottled water.

And could it get any damn hotter in the midwest? Hmmm? I mean we’re practically Canada and its 90F all the flippin’ time! I expect hot weather down south, but up here its supposed to be cold. This sucks.

Speaking of which, I need to run another 6 miles tonight in the friggin’ heat. Oh friggin’ yea! I wish I had gotten up earlier this AM and run in the dark.

And a giant flying wasp/ant thing just came buzzing by my head and landed on my computer. Now he’s lying dead in the garbage because I totally squashed his wasp/ant ass.

Oh yeah, and I gained back EVERY DAMN POUND that I lost last spring. Dammit.

So I hope you are all having a good day because over where I am, its not so very nice.

By the way, I also need a free laptop. By Monday. How cheap are the old used ones running windows 98? Can I get one for less than $20?

Sorry to hear that things are *not* going your way :-( Hang in there, Jon…there’s bound to be a shift!

But how do you really feel?

Actually, I’m sorry you’re in the dumps. Hopefully the heat, and your spririts, will lift soon.

Is it Thursday yet? Not yet? You might be suffering from chocolate withdrawal.

NEXT run day, get up at odark30 and grab a jog with a fresh cool breeze. I know it’s a total drag to have to run unconscious like that, but it might be worth it to cheer you up.

I am in Canada and you’re right it’s way to friggin hot, I blame those girls with big hair and mini skirts, all that hairspray caused the big hole and global warming.

Trust me, even at o’dark30 there is no fresh cool breeze where we are (this is what I learned this morning). But the heat is a little less stifling, and there are much fewer annoying people out, so you still might want to get it a try.

sorry to hear you had a bad day, but way to show that bug who’s boss!

But even on your bad days…you manage to make me laugh! Is that wrong? I’m not laughing AT you - well, at least not THIS time. That counts, right?

good rant. good rant. i don’t think i know you well enough to give a “tough love” speech, and even if I did I would likely chicken out. i have a hard time being tough. but know i am thinking it :) it will all be worth it for the fall marathon…and getting up early is the ONLY way to go in the summer. i have NO IDEA how the people i see running outside at lunch time do it. no idea…

Oh Jon, I do know how you feel in this heat. I guess it could be worse and we could live in Arizona but then we wouldn’t have to freeze our butts off in January. Hang in there, October is coming!

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were 8 months pregant too! My husband has played disc golf many times, and I had to let him know that you can’t *technically* call it a sport if you can do the whole game with a beer in one hand.

Arrrgh it’s been 90 F here everyday since the beginning of June - and I AM in Canada! I’ve been trapped in my living room for FAR too long - hurry up Fall!

Move to Scotland, man. Then you’ll never have to complain about the heat.

And people play real golf. With sticks and balls and everything. And no-one says “dude”. And you can get a laptop for under $20 too. Except here we call them “jotters”.

Mia’s comment was right on the mark;) Speaking of mark, Mark said it well too, you bxxxh wonderfully. I can relate to you on the weight thing, I gained back the weight I lost training for my first marathon. I’m running over 40 miles a week and can barely hold my weight in check. And I haven’t had chocolate for months - urgh! At least the temperatures have stayed under 80 for the past 4-5 days. Now I run too fast though:=)

Duuuuuuude - sorry, I had to do it. :)

I applaud you for at least getting out in the heat and running. I live only a few hours south of you and I’ve been hiding in the a/c for the last few weeks? You want to talk about weight gain? I’m about to break out the stretchy pants. :)

Excellent! Excellent Rant! Best to get it all out! The heat does strange things to people. There is always Hot Yoga…I swear it acclimatizes the body but in your state I think you may just lose it on the half-naked instructor. Don’t go there…YET!
