Still alive (gosh I sound like Pam now!)

Things are going and furious these days. Alot going on and unfortunately not all of it really fits together. To get everything done, I’ve had to let some important things fall through the cracks, and blogging seems to be one of them this week. :(

Quick recap since last week:
- Went to cub scout resident camp with my son for 3 days where it only rained once but the tent stayed mostly dry, got bitten by only a few mosquitos, and my son passed a beginner’s swimming test so he could swim in a deeper section of the designated swim area. Yea!

- I have indeed been running (except for one day), and got my 9 miler in last weekend. It went just great, despite my lame attempt to keep the pace down (9:17). I think I’m getting better though, and I can feel my form improving too.

- The major suck-o-rama stuff still looms in the near future. Sometime begining in August is when the fun really starts. Oh yeah. I’m taking steps to minimize the effects and that has actually worked out very well so far. In fact, later tonight I’m taking some very big steps in a positive direction in that regard. Not much detail here I know, but I need to keep it that way for now. If anyone has a big bucket of luck, please spill a little my way.

- Chocolate? Um, well I ate just a little bit while I was camping (Hershey’s in a smore) but didn’t eat anything else for several days. Then yesterday I broke down and ate about 800 calories worth. Nice. After gaining about 8 pounds overeating at camp, this did not help. Gotta get back on track with better habits. At least my blood pressure will be under control. :)

- Good news? The legs are feeling damn good these days. Shins are a little achey but not painful. My back has woken me up the past couple nights but I think I’ve been doing some bad lifting the past couple days and my night stretching has not been happening. Working on that.

Lastly, I wanted to say thanks to every for the comments on the past few posts. I haven’t been able to respond to them all with recent schedule overload and I feel badly about that. I like to respond via email because if people take the time to say something here, I think I should be taking time to send a note and let them know I read it and appreciated it. Sorry for being neglectful.

I hope you all are having a good week, running or otherwise. I’ve got to “run” off now and get myself to work this AM (late already, ofcourse). Be good!

Hi Jon, it’s great to hear from you and that you’re keeping your head above water. Woof! Woof! on the 9 miler.

It’s good to hear that running / chocolating is going smoothly - it’s important to have support like that around when things get rough in other areas of life. Camping sounds like fun - yay for the little swim-master!

Umm…I was always told that there were no calories when camping? What? That’s not true?

Glad to hear that you are keeping your head above water…I think my black cloud has wandered off, so I might actually have some luck to send your way!

Extra chocolate helps you run. The better it tastes the more it helps you. With a few days of normal eating thoses pound will disapear.

And congrats on your son’s big accompishment!!!

So good to read a Jon post again. I say eat the darn chocolate, even 800 calories worth. Sometimes when life gets stressful, you gotta keep plugging along. And chocolate helps.

I had a good feeeling you’d get ahead of all the dark cloud stuff. Sounds like you’re working your way there. I could guess how but it would take all the drama out of it.
Be wary of any luck Dianna sends your way. Her black cloud had a white stripe down it and was really smelly.

Congrats to your son for passing the swimming test! Also, congrats to you for working in the 9 miler and having legs that feel good. No need to reply directly to me when you are busy. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. I’ve been lagging at blogging too. It’s hard when there aren’t enough hours.
