Where I reveal too much information

When I sit in the basement on the computer, sometimes the dehumidifier (sp?) is running. Its very noisy and it makes it hard to hear other noises or voices (or someone calling me from upstairs) in the house, unless they are loud. And even then its hard to make out what they are saying. You can here its someone calling you (”get off the #$%^ing computer and come upstairs”) but you can’t make it out.

Sometimes, when its on at night, I can hear people screaming.

It sounds like there is a huge fight going on upstairs, and I’ll jump up and shut down the dehumidifier to find out what’s going on.

Silence. Nothing.

Clearly, I am insane.

You know, I think you may be insane, but for some reason this is one of my favorite posts ever! I wouldn’t be surprised to find this as a micro-short story in some Avant Garde literary journal.

    Keep up the good work!

PS Don’t forget to take your medicine.

Deus ex machina. When I am lying in bed and the refrigerator is runnning, I am sure I can hear several voices speaking in unintelligible murmurs in the kitchen.

I do that with the doorbell - I swear I hear it but there is nobody there. Although I suppose the neighborhood kids may just be trying to drive me insane.

The baby. I hear the baby constantly, especially after he’s been sick…

Yeah, I do that too when the voices in my head start arguing. I turn on the air conditioner to drown them out.

My AC can mess with me like that.

Actually, the other night, I was watching TV, and it was a kind of funny and awkward scene and I thought I heard a phone ringing in the background of the scene. And I kept waiting for someone in the scene to mention the phone that was ringing off the hook. Never happened. Credits rolled. Phone was still ringing. … It was the alarm I had set on my own mobile phone. D’oh!

I hear things when I am drying my hair, then I turn off the dryer and…silence. Drives me insane. I have a hard time when the Mister is away.

Oh yeah, the hair dryer. I hear things when the hair drying is running, too! My overatctive imagination just goes crazy when that soft “whirrrr” drowns out everything else.

Too funny! Interesting post. I have a dehumidifier in my basement, too. I have to shut it off when I’m down there because the noise is deafening. We have a laptop so sometimes I drag it upstairs so I don’t have to be down in the dungeon typing away…bloggging, blogging…

I hear our newborn crying whenever the AC is on. It’s rarely the case that he is crying when I check. So yeah, I’m crazy like that too.

stupid bloglines… it hasn’t even picked up this post and yet there are already 14 comments…

anyway, looking at the comments, it’s good to know that even if you are insane, you’ll have a lot of company on the mental ward!
