Trying to avoid the crud

I have done my running this week. I got my 3 miles in Tuesday night (8:30 pace), and my 4 miles in last night (8:50 pace). Tuesday I felt pretty good and it was a quick run on the back roads, but Wednesday was dreadful, and hard to keep it together. Maybe it was because of the faster run the day before, maybe it was the humidity. Maybe I’m falling apart.

I had 3 miles tonight (8:40) and tomorrow is a rest day. An easy 5 miles on Saturday. This is a setback week so the mileage is lower, until I bump up again to a 9 mile long run next weekend. Maybe a good long run will help me feel better.

I was thinking about the Run Thru Hell this year, but I have some other committments on that date now, so I won’t be able to run it. It looked like a fun race too. :( Hopefully I can run it next year.

The race in New Haven is looking doubtful. I was planning on going to meet the million RBF folks that are attending, but I don’t think I will be able to make it out there. I’d say there’s a 25% chance right now. Dropping rapidly.

Thanks, everyone, for the supportive comments. Sorry to be down in the dumps. In the morning I’m pretty good but by the end of the day, I can’t seem to hold it together very well.

Hang in there, and just keep running. If nothing else, it’s a few days a week where you’ve got at least 20-30 minutes to yourself to think and decompress. You’ll get through the crud.

I hope your plans change so you will be able to make it to New Haven. It would be great to meet you (and sample more home made chocolate) :)

Sorry to hear your down, Chocolate Man. We’re starting to see a hint of light at the end of a long, sucky tunnel and have an idea whereof you speak. Keep on running: put one foot down in front of the other, repeat as necessary.

Sorry to hear that you might not make New Haven…I was looking forward to meetin’ “Jon in Michigan!” Just do what you need to do…and make sure you’re able to vent your frustration/anger, either here on your blog or out there while running :-)

Like the boys in ‘Animal House’ used to say, “It’s not over until we say it’s over.”
