Gmail goes splat
I had dumped hotmail a while ago in favor of Gmail. But Gmail is a beta system, that is, it is not fully released and sometimes just isn’t working. Several times now, the thing has just stopped receiving emails and either deletes what’s coming in or sends it back “return to sender”.
Now I have to switch back to hotmail or Yahoo, since I use my email for notification of comments on my blog. Very dissappointing. If you sent me an email and it got kicked back recently, its probably because Gmail is being flaky.
I’d love to keep Gmail, but its a pain to keep switching to something else while they sort out their issues. If they get it all fixed in a few years, I may stay there permanently. In the mean time, I’ll be using hotmail, yahoo, or other accounts sometimes to send email.
Darn.

Okay, can someone please tell me what the big dang deal is about gmail? Because apparently I’m too dumb to figure it out.

My brother in NY had the same problem with Gmail, at least he kept his AOL account active so it didn’t mess his life up too much.
Hey Jon, Lara (Running in Place) and Molly (Mom2Marathon) are trying to get a CNY blog reunion going, how bout the Boilermaker 2006 (www.boilermaker.com)? Of course that means we have to do Ann Arbor in 2007 and the Baden-Marathon in 2008 ;-)

hmm…i haven’t had any problems like that with gmail and i’ve been using it for about a year now.
bex, gmail has some nice search and archiving features in it, and it also offers 2gb+ worth of storage. the conversation feature of an email thread is really nice, too. for me, i find it a much more enjoyable interface for webmail than, say, hotmail.

Wow, g-mail has always worked for me, even on my Treo 650. Give it a chance, Jon.
