I ran.

Well, after Pam called me “buttercup”, there was no way I was going to sit at home and lay on the sofa eating bon bons like she did. I got off my lardly butt and headed out to the park. In the rain. With thunder and lightning and hail and tornadoes and meteorites and everything.

Ok, there was just rain. And it stopped before I left.

My wife and son rode bikes while I trudged along. It was so hot and humid I just wanted to die. A very sludgy run. I was dragging my feet and really not moving like I needed to. I actually stopped and checked my posture twice because my form was getting so sloppy that I couldn’t readjust while moving. I can tell right away when my posture is wrong because I can’t hit with my midfoot, and end up heel striking. Gotta straighten up the spine to do that, and lift my pelvis so its level.

The swollen spot on my throat seems to have gone down a little, but I still have that yucky throat feeling. Sleepy too. I need to go to bed.

3 miles at a 9:14 pace, which is right about my easy pace, but this was not easy. I think my HR was probably too high. It seemed no matter how much I sweated, the humidity just kept it from evaporating.

Speaking of that, why is wicking fabric a good idea? I mean, it doesn’t get heavy like cotton will, but why would you want to get all the sweat off you quickly, if you need it to evaporate from your skin and cool you down? I don’t get it.

Tomorrow I want to do 5-6 miles at the park in the evening if I can. I have too much going on in the morning to do it then, unless I get up very, very early but that isn’t happening because I’m going to be late, like an idiot.

Oh, and I fixed my computer without breaking anything! Yeah. The cooling fan for the power supply stopped working and it got really hot and started to have that burning electrical smell (like when you solder something). I took it apart and found that the bushing was kinda corroded or something similar so the blade wouldn’t turn. I cleaned it up and put a micro sized bit of Krytox grease on it and now it works perfectly. No trip to CompUSA tomorrow. I are a genius.

And on that good note, I’m heading to bed. Hope you all had good runs today and I hope tomorrow goes even better.

P.S.
Hey, Pam? Suck it up, Buttercup! :D
