I'm with Jank. My Forerunner is way off when I'm in a wooded area. Congrats to your son on the Derby results. So the competitive streak runs in the family?

I second the notion of the forerunner not being perfect ... all the time. I know, as you've probably seen also, that if running in an area that is heavily covered, e.g. trees, leaves, even densely concentrated tall buildings, that it temporarily might lose the GPS signal. It does seem to correct for this once its reestablished your position, but I bet Jank is right - I bet you've been running faster/further (I sure as hell hope that's true for me!) That ABC post slayed me man - that is funny funny stuff!

I'm growing more skeptical of my forerunner on trails - I think that leaves play havoc with the GPS signal, which is not entirely out of the question. So my guess (based on the last couple months of tracking your runs) is that you went both further and faster than you think.
