Uh, yeah, whatever

Do you ever get that feeling that even though you think you are talking the same language, the other person is hearing just some kind of gibberish because the volume dial in their head is turned up waaaaaaay too damn loud?

I was just trying to get one of my students to behave like a human, and he looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. Like not a word I was saying was making any sense to him. It’s the weirdest feeling, I know. Co worker? Spouse? Doesn’t matter. It’s a freakshow.

I get this every day with my kids! I’m like the teacher in “Charlie Brown”. Waa, waa, waa!! Welcome to my world.

Your mouth is moving but I don’t hear anything. It’s the voices in my head.

Try saying “chocolate” and see if that gets their attention. Then you can continue on.

Maybe it’s not the volume, but the background noise from everything else going on in their head…
