A hasty report!
This will be the lamest report yet, but here goes.
I bought these all about a week ago at World Market in Ann Arbor. This first one is by Heidel (German), and I haven’t even tasted the bar itself but the wrapped just looked very cool. You can’t see it in the picture but it says “Chocolate Greetings” in different languages on the sides. I guess the money represents countries in Europe, uh, even though they all have the same money? Not sure. This is a milk chocolate bar and the only bummer appears to be that it uses vanillin instead of real vanilla.
I think I talked about Perugina before but I’m not sure. Perugina is Italian and is part of Nestle. This is their dark bar. Not terribly bad but, like Heidel, they use vanillin instead of real vanilla. Blech.
This one is by Guylian and the interesting thing is they don’t use vanilla at all in this (or yucky vanillan). So the flavor you get is slightly different from most chocolate you will find that has vanilla in it. From their website it says the company was founded only 50 years ago by Guy and Liliane Foubert (so you can see where the name comes from). Anyway, it was a good bar. Not amazing but pleasant tasting and not so bitter, so you non-dark-liking people might want to try it.
This is another cute Heidel product. Nothing special about the chocolate, I just thought the suitcase was funny and my son got a kick out of it too.
Last one. The Lindt 70% is by far my most favorite ever dark bar. The flavor is amazing. I found this tiny 1.4 oz bar and thought it looked too funny. Just had to buy it. Quarter added for scale.
OK, that’s it. Sorry I totally missed this Friday (thanks for the reminder, Pam).

I mentioned this on my own blog a while ago, but have you checked out the 86% Lindt stuff? It’s pretty hardcore, but it goes well with a sturdy Burgundy . . .

as c pointed out the 86% is hardcore but somehow I’ve developed a penchant for it. I had it with a merlot…but a burgundy sounds nice. I SO love your chocolate reports Jon. :)

Such a cute little bar… I was inspired last night to make an ice cream pie, with Ghiradelli bittersweet chocolate and cream melted over a graham cracker crust, raspberries embedded within, and ice cream on top. I thought of you!

how did i miss this???
Hmm you’ve inspired me to eat half of spongebob and then replace him in his box perhaps a diaper or pull up in place of his squarepants. Think they’ll notice?

Happy Easter, Jon. Yummy chocolate. The suitcase is cute - I should go over to World Market so I can make my kid an Easter Basket but me so lazy.

New trail shoes! Eeee! I’m green with envy…Did you manage to wait for one day until testing them? I bet it was worth the wait - sometimes anticipation just adds the excitement! You know, sometimes if I lack motivation to work out, I say to myself that “ok, you are allowed to rest. For a week. You are not allowed to go running or to the gym or even do the pilates tape for 7 days.” Needless to conclude: After two-three days I’m jumping on the walls with frustration and dying to lace up my Asics or grab a barbell.
