Much better this week

I ran my 3 mile pace run today and what a difference from last time (when I died). This time I wanted to start out at my target pace of 8:00 and then I would just take it mile by mile, either dropping the pace down or walking the 2nd or 3rd if things just got awful again.
This time they did not get awful. In fact my biggest problem was getting the right pace. I started out fast (always seem to do that) and tried to slow it down to 8:00. Every time I slowed, I would drop to 8:30 or slower. So speed up. Bing, I’m at 7:40. Slow, speed up. Slow, speed up. It went like that. I just could not hold it at 8:00 for any good amount of time, so I just let it go. I think I have spent alot of time at 9:30 and not much at 8:00 and I don’t know how it feels.
Anyway, my splits were 7:43, 7:40, 7:46. Not bad if I wanted 7:40′s. :D
The Forerunner and the marked miles at the park disagreed about distance. Ghostrunner said that the miles were more like .03 longer so my overall distance had almost .1 more, which changed my pace slightly. Probably just picking flyshite out of the pepper in this case.
The weather was just beautiful today. 40F with bright sunshine. I wore my sunglasses it was so bright. And I wore….(drum roll)….just my tights, no sweats over them. Yikes! I wore my wind jacket to provide me a bit of modesty but it was still an odd sensation out there running. Maybe that’s why I ran so fast, had to get home and put some clothes on! I drank my chocolate mile (chocolate milk with cinnamon) and a pint of Gatorade (50:50 diluted with water) and ate two bananas on the way home in the truck.
When I got home I did my first cold bath in a while. BRRRRRRR! In the winter, even the cold tap water is damn cold. I forgot to grab my neoprene booties so my toes were just frozen. I feel pretty good right now. My lower back is having some muscle spasms but not too badly. Its probably from cleaning the bathroom, which is what I did for fun after my bath. Oh yea.
I got the most interesting advertising in the mail yesterday, see if you can guess what they are selling. I took out a few bits that give it away and put in “Blah Blah” to mask the giveaways.
21st Century Technology
Blah Blah is proud to introduce a revolutionary advancement in Blah Blah technology. Two years in development, Blah Blah, is the remarkable achievement of an international collaboration of designers, engineers, and technicians using the latest in digital and laser technology and proprietary manufacturing processes.
Have ya got it? I wouldn’t have guessed it in a million years.
It sounds like you had a most wonderful run today, and a chocolate mile to top it off:) Way to go Jon. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!
Jon: Yeah, sounds like a great run. Good times. And a pretty day to go with it.
And speaking of chocolate. Do you like Tag-a-longs? (Girl Scout cookies are my downfall lately). smile.
Great run.
Is the offer, perhaps, for knives? Lazer sharpened knives with laser guidance?
Some kind of plastic surgery? Like those facial things to remove lines?
Nice times, btw. And yes, your back is no doubt tweaked due to *cleaning the bathroom*, not because of anything fun you *wanted* to do, like a nice quick run!
you had me laffin worrying about your tights,, hey thats what pictures are good for ;) You do amazing runs, good job!!
Men in tights….why do you think I like the back of the pack. ;-)
